A GOP Plan To Oust Cheney

A GOP Plan To Oust Cheney

The big question right now among Republicans is how to remove Vice President Cheney from office. Even before this week's blockbuster series in The Post, discontent in Republican ranks was rising.

As the reputed architect of the war in Iraq, Cheney is viewed as toxic, and as the administration's leading proponent of an attack on Iran, he is seen as dangerous. As long as he remains vice president, according to this thinking, he has the potential to drag down every member of the party -- including the presidential nominee -- in next year's elections.

country. Oh wait, no they aren't.

They're worried about their own hides as ususal.

Are they gonne undo all the horrible shit he's responsible for? That they helped him do?

4. Senatorial Process?
If it's agreed that cheney is part of the legislative branch, specifically the Senate - is there a process in place for censure or removal of a Senate member?

If VP funding is moved from the Executive budget line to the Legislative budget lines doesn't this open cheney's office for audits? And he can't claim executive privilege to bar auditors from coming

5. This is exactly what I was talking to someone about the other night.
Let me tell you, it's a big freakin' mistake for the Dems to let the pukes be the ones to start anything against Cheney and/or the Chimp. It's going to make the Dems look too damned weak to do anything, thus effectively handing the '08 elections over to the pukes because they were heroes and rid of us of these criminals. Mark my words... This is a disaster for the Dems if they don't take the lead. The Dems are worried about not looking like a partisan witch hunt but by god, the evil witches are there... REMOVE THEM NOW! .... or lose in '08

13. Whoever replaces him will have to be approved by the Dem's.
For that matter they don't have to replace him at all. The constitution only gives you a means for replacing a VP. There is no time table or requirement for replacing one.

10. I don't find this credible.
There's a simple way to remove someone like Dick: Impeach! If removing Dick was such a hot topic among Republicans, why haven't any of 'em co-sponsored H. Res. 333?

11. Just talk, not credible. Their party would engage in political
assassination of character in republican primaries. No republican, most likely, will support impeachment until the democrats support HR 333.

14. So the cowards want him to resign in order to avoid anything
else coming out that might bring them down as well and to distance themselves from the fact that they have supported every move the Bush/Cheney alliance have made. Cheney resigns - reaps all the blame (even though everyone in that WH and some out - and some in Congress - are to blame as well) - the heat is off the others (except maybe for Gonzales - and for Cheney's closest staff - who will resign if he resigns), Republicans can claim the "problem" is gone - people will feel a measure of victory - and life goes on.

well cultivated, neat - and easy to live with...the way America likes her lies.

17. What is this crap? It becomes a campaign editorial for Fred Thompson?
Here I was thinking I was going to read something showing that Republicans are discontent over the constitutional crisis these assholes have landed us in, when they are really just showing their true colors: Willing to take down their own just to make sure a FUCKING REPUKE can still win the White House in 2008.

Give me a break. :wtf:

19. I agree but it will not happen
Picking Thompson would piss off all the campaigns and everyone who has a candidate they are entrenched with or given money to.

I doubt Thompson would take the job and I doubt Bush would offer the job. It would also handcuff him from running as an outsider. There is no upside.

If you could get his nimination past the House.

His only replacement would be a caretaker/stand in who is not going to run in 2008.

John Warner would be the right type of guy....but that would put another seat up fro Grabe and theuir is a Dem Governor in VA. Or maybe somone like Tom Kean.

But Thompson would never fly.
