NO theatre within 50 miles (!!!!) of me is carrying Sicko at this time. My local theatres didnt even show Brokeback Mountain until AFTER it won the award, and then only carried it for a week (one week, not two weekends), never showed Farenheit 9/11, and showed The Passion on almost every screen for a month or two. And I'm not in a small town either. Denton Tx has both the University of North Texas and Texas Womens University. I have already complained to my local theatres, but is there anything else I can do about it? Or am I gonna have to drive to Dallas to see this film?

2. I would be surprised if Sicko didn't beat F911 for box office receipts |
|
and given Moore's strengthened record (post F911) as a bankable filmmaker, your local cinema may be quicker to book his film.

6. I was hoping the early-release would be available in Raleigh. NC |
|
But it sure isn't going to be.
I'm checking now to see who will carry it when it officially releases.

This area is so right-wing that it's scary.
Want to know where the 30% that unfailingly support "W" lives? Right here.

10. if the opening-weekend crowds are big, it might open up some more screens |
|

That's what happened with his last film.
Another possibility -- if there's a health faculty at the local university, they might be interested in sponsoring a campus showing? (If the university support staff have a union, that's another group that might be able to help.)

11. No theater near Oklahoma CIty, either. |
|
We did get Fahrenheit 911, though (but perhaps not until a few weeks after its release - can't remember for sure)
