MoveOn calls Dingell a dinosaur
MoveOn calls Dingell a dinosaur

MoveOn is launching a radio ad attacking Rep. John Dingell (D-Mich.) as a “dinosaur” for his opposition to climate change legislation that could impact the auto industry. The ads dub the Energy and Commerce Committee chairman “Dingellsaurus” and will begin airing in Ann Arbor tomorrow, the organization said.

The liberal group is also planning rallies at his offices in Michigan and in Washington, D.C., in which MoveOn members will dress as dinosaurs.

The ad includes the following exchange between a boy, Tyler, and his father, who is explaining to the boy what a Dingellsaurus is.

Father: A Dingellsaurus. Someone who’s been in Congress so long, he forgets about the people who sent him there.

Tyler: Are there any around today?

Father: Our Congressman John Dingell. He’s standing in the way of the first energy bill ever that would really combat global warming. It would also help the auto companies in the long run and that means more jobs.

Tyler: Is a Dingellsaurus dangerous?

Father: Very. Because if the Dingellsaurus gets his way, we all could be extinct.

Dingell wasn't immediately available for comment
