Dodd tells crowd in Rochester impeaching Cheney won't help
ROCHESTER — Appearing before at least 60 voters at the Governor's Inn on Sunday, presidential candidate Chris Dodd said he "understands the appetite" of people wanting to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney, but he doesn't think the long process would help the country.

"There are too many other issues out there the American public were hoping Democrats would decide to address and focus on. That's the choice you make. Others may make a different focus. My choice would be to focus on other agenda items," he said.

The crowd did not erupt into applause as it did after many of the other things the longtime Democratic U.S. senator from Connecticut had to say.

Dodd was responding to a multipart question about whether Cheney has the responsibility to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution, whether he was doing it and, if not, what's the next step.

WRONG Mr. Dodd! If there was ever a case for absolute power corrupting absolutely, it could be said for Shrub and Shooter. The very act alone of proceeding with introducing articles of impeachment, would serve as a vital and needed gesture to the world that the American people will not continue to support an "executive branch" based on lies and secrecy.

I've lost patience with DEM candidates who need to get a gut check on courage and simply refuse to do the right thing. This voter says to Dodd and to Biden (for his cowardly vote supporting Shrub's war funding in May) to get the heck out of the race and stop wasting our time. There is no need for your going nowhere candidacies to take time away from candidates that actually have a fighting chance to win.

2. Wake up, Mr. Dodd
The voters sent you a very clear, unmistakable message in November 2006. Now, you can either carry out our explicitly stated mandate, or you can be part of the dross that's swept away in 2008. What'll it be?

3. We need to educate these people. Rep. Nadler got an earful from...
...David Bender on "Ring of Fire" this weekend when Nadler poo-pooed IMPEACHMENT.

Our work is cut out for us, folks.

6. So Dodd has a crystal ball with the ability to look to the future?
How in the hell does he know impeaching Cheney won't help?

He's allowing CRIMINALS to DISMANTLE our country. He's an enabler, almost as bad as the criminals themselves.

You're just wasting our time, Dodd. Move aside. You have no political future.

8. He's Right In Many Ways. And Thanks For The Link. He Was Quite Impressive In It Actually. It Was
a really good read.

I don't think he can win or is our best, but he's still a really good Senator and Democrat.

9. He obviously doesn't understand that you must attack the root cause of issues -
and Cheney is one of the key root causes. Things would start to fall in place nicely after the principal thugs are cuffed and jailed.

What he fails to understand (or admit), is that those "other issues" WILL NOT BE ADDRESSED when you are dependent upon a criminal regime to carry out and administer the legislative solutions to those issues!

What a dumbass!!!

12. Talk about missing the point!
Dodd and others do not understand the Constitutional requirement for the impeachment of derelict leaders. Or, they understand it perfectly well but are too scared to follow it.

Lead, or get out of the way.

13. I wish they would quit saying there are more important things
as if they have a veto proof majority to legislate progressive legislation or democracy and constitution should take a back seat. The more I hear it from elected democrats, the bigger the chance I will selectively vote. You can spit in my face only so many times.

16. It was such a punch in the gut when right before the election was held,
Pelosi said "impeachment is off the table". I remember before that, there was hope the American people would really learn what had been kept from them and what the lies were.

I'll keep trying until that document called the constitution is either resurrected or relegated to toilet paper.
