That we had more detailed posting profiles than anything under 1000, and then just "1000."

Some people can reach the 1000 easily just by opening their mouths in the Lounge and talking about non-political things. They do that to establish some credibility, and then go and use that 1000 "clout" to spread their otherwise right-winged whacko views and instill some mistrust among the faithful.

I think if we can't have more specific # of posts visible, I think it should be made so that posts in the Lounge don't count toward your full total, OR that there be two post totals: your overall total, and your Lounge total.

I don't intend this as a flame or anything of the sort, but I've just gotten to the point where I see some really nasty and right-winged comments coming from people with over 1000 posts, and I have to wonder how they have survived long enough to have that many posts in the first place.

I'm also open to suggestions. I DO check out some of the people with those kind of comments, either by seeing exactly how many total posts they have, or do a search and examine their pattern of forum postings, and I have often found that some of them do eventually get TS'ed. But it's still a waste of time, for me, anyhow, to try to reason with someone whose opinion is not really representative of a true DUer, and who has no sincere desire to change.

My own post count is embarrassingly high and I'm just as happy people don't know it. There would be a movement to get me to shut up.

I know I only look at post count either when I don't recognize the poster or something outrageous has been posted. In the former case, a welcome is due. In the latter, I'll hit "alert" no matter what the number is.

The post count we have now is sufficient to discern between "newbie" and "somebody who's been here long enough to know the ropes."
