Is it true you bumped Michael Moore from your show to interview a celebrity famous for her porn and drunk driving? Really? Remember Michael Moore? He made Farenheit 911? Changed how we Americans viewed the war? Perhaps your manorexia has caused your brain to eat itself, and you don't recall. Or, maybe, CNN is owned by some neo-cons, and the decision wasn't really up to you, it was up to the people who own CNN? Either way, Larry, I am sure you are hitting yourself. I know, I can't imagine if I had to be you and sit there across fom some poptart who's labia has seen more sunshine than Cheney's drunk chrome on a hunting afternoon. I can't imagine what you will have to tell yourself as you prep for that interview in the makeup chair.Just remember, Larry, as history is written, there will be proof spilled everywhere, like ink. The truth will berry-stain: impossible to forget stain... And you know what? I am going to look back at this time, a time when real journalists could have saved us all some grief by reporting truth instead of soaps, and I will laugh and say "Remember how Larry King dumped Michael Moore for Paris Hilton?"

1. one quibble.. Larry has never BEEN a journalist
He's always been a sycophant ...and a slobbering groveler to the rish & famous..

At least Robin Leach admitted his schtick..and never pretended to be a jorunalist

4. I saw Larry on Colbert, I think, it was Colbert. He admitted that he
knew nothing about the people he interviewed, did no research, because he wanted to be "amazed." Apparently a guest can sit there and lie for an hour and LR would not know the difference.

7. Tsuki, I don't know what you expect from TV or radio hosts.

I know for a fact that Larry gets "notes" on an author or other guests and "suggested questions" -- to say that HE does NO RESEARCH is probably true, but that's because he has a whole staff that provides him with "background" material. I get the same material when I speak to anyone on my show -- maybe I glance at it for a few minutes, but most of the conversation is pleasant. I've talked to presidents and paupers, atheists and priests, -- what do you want? Someone confrontational like Bill O'Reilly, Glenn Beck, Chris Matthews?

Personally, I'd rather listen to Larry King than a lot of other interviewers on television. Larry recedes into the background, and asks questions. What he says is that he wants to approach his guests without rancor and listen to their position. If you think he is a right winger, you're wrong. If you think he's a left winger, you're probably wrong, too. He got into politics kind of by chance. I don't think he really could be termed a "political animal."

Also, Larry is definitely NOT a debater. He works in the background to get information from the guest's point of view. Many guests obviously like this technique -- he's been doing it for years and he has a huge audience. In the years we were together, I can't say I ever remember Larry getting angry or screaming or yelling at anyone.

Sadly, Larry also doesn't use a computer. I'm married to a guy who is almost exactly Larry's age (my husband is also 73; Larry will be 74 on November 19). My husband is well into the digital age, something Larry might enjoy, but who knows? It's clearly not something that interests him.

12. He said he did no research, read nothing, had no notes. That is what
he told Colbert. He wants to be amazed. Now, if he was lying, okay.

5. You might read some of my posts about Larry -- when I worked with him and took over his show.

Larry King is a very interesting personality who has many positive qualities. He is not a journalist, but he is a quiet and tolerant interviewer and a pretty great writer. Larry's father died when he was 9 years old and his brother Marty was six. I am not sure but believe that Larry never finished high school. He grew up in a tough Brooklyn neighborhood while his mother struggled to support Larry and Marty.

In his early days, Larry succeeded as a DJ -- spinning records and doing a variety of voices on filter microphone. He loves sports and entertainment. He had been through a succession of marriages, but apparently has finally found love with Shawn Southwick.

Larry never reads the books prior to interviewing an author. He started as a talented radio DJ in Florida in the 1950s. I dated him briefly in both the 1950s and the 1970s. In 1971, I became his "screener" (the person who answers the telephone and keeps the caller in line until going on air).

I also took over his radio program on WIOD, Miami, when he was arrested in December 1971 due to a money matter. From that toehold, I moved on to a great career in broadcasting.

I resent your calling him a groveler, etc. and so decided to respond to this name-calling.

In peace,

Radio Lady in Oregon

6. the night king spent more than an hour
following a white ford bronco on the 405 was the last night I watched him. I think I was only watching that night because Ann Richards was supposed to be on.

14. I once used the word "smegma" in a large company meeting... just in jest.

So sue me! I have a big mouth and use it often!

About fifteen people reminded me of that moment for years afterwards.

Then there was the time that my Regional Manager remembered he didn't bring extra underwear (save the briefs he was wearing) for a week-long trade show in Boston. I sent my daughter, who was then in her 20s, to the Framingham Mall (Massachusetts) to buy him some Jockey shorts, as I recall.

That got a big laugh as we presented the package to him jointly!

Ah, Jim B., I wonder where those briefs are now -- and what ever happened to YOU?

13. UPDATE: He was really good on the Daily Show -- called LK "a bastard" in a very low breath...

Funny!

However, I am worried about his health. He looks very big. Not a good thing -- never was, never will be. I know. I'm battling the bulges also. I hope he gets a check-up soon.
