He Sought No Fame as a Blogger, Just Advocacy for the Promise of America. Steve Gilliard is the Posthumous Winner of This Week's BuzzFlash Wings of Justice Award.

Innovative progressive blogger Steve Gilliard, editor and publisher of TheNewsBlog, died a short time ago at the age of 42.

In an age when liberal blogging has become more competitive and many of its practitioners celebrities in their own right, Gilliard sought nothing other than to blog on behalf of fairness and justice.

"For helping to give me, and thousands of other progressives, back our faith in our country and in ourselves," Steve's BuzzFlash nominator notes. "With biting wit and snake-eyed determination, he fought the lies and obfuscation of our duplicitous opponents and never wavered in his love for his country and for his fellow citizens."

1. Before I opened, I knew this would be for Steve. . .

We lost an important voice when Steve Gilliard died and in our loss our understanding of the world is somewhat diminished. Those who didn't know him will never realize what they missed or appreciate how much of an impact he had on so many progressives. Those who did know him miss and appreciate him more with each passing day.
