GOD BLESS PARIS HILTON!
She wants to help the women in prison. God Bless her and may she find the right people to help. Forget Martha Stewart, she didn't do shit. Try Susan McDougal she knows what to do. Find the right people and DO IT! You know what has to happen!

25. Seconded. She just got out of the clink...
...do we have to keep bashing her forever? Give her a chance to live up to her pledges. If she goes back to her old ways, then take your potshots.

3. I want to help the women in prison, too
and the men in prison, as well! Reform is severely lacking in this country's penal system, and I'm going to help them!

Wait, it costs what?

Take it away, Paris!

I really didn't expect that at all. She's such a high profile person, she really can make a difference to so many people's lives. I'm not a person who prays but I will for this. We need this so much.

35. This kid really knows how to generate wealth. If NBC was going with a mil, Larry was at least
in for a 1/2 mil. Not bad for 23 days at the county lunch bucket.

FATHER GREG BOYLE, S.J.

Father Gregory J. Boyle, S.J. is a Jesuit priest who is Founder / Executive Director of Jobs For A Future / Homeboy Industries, an employment referral center and economic development program. Begun in 1988, for at-risk and gang-involved youth, Jobs For A Future is, today, a nationally-recognized center that assists 1,000 people a month in re-directing their lives. Through its unique and multi-service approach, Jobs For A Future offers hope to those for whom hope is often foreign.

Located in Boyle Heights, a community with arguably the highest concentration of gang activity in Los Angeles, Jobs For A Future provides employment opportunities, counseling, and many other services (including free tattoo removal). By seeking to address the root causes of gang violence, Jobs For A Future creates opportunities so that at-risk youth can plan their futures and not their funerals. “Nothing stops a bullet like a job” is the guiding principle.

In 1992, as a response to the civil unrest in Los Angeles, Father Boyle formed Homeboy Industries, to create businesses that provide training, work experience, and above all, the opportunity for rival gang members to work side by side. The following economic development enterprises have been created since the first venture, Homeboy Bakery: Homeboy Silkscreen, Homeboy / Homegirl Merchandise, Homeboy Graffiti Removal, Homeboy Maintenance, and Homeboy Landscaping.

Father Boyle was born in Los Angeles. He received his BA in English from Gonzaga University, an MA in English from Loyola Marymount University, a Master of Divinity from the Weston School of Theology, and an STM degree from the Jesuit School of Theology.

Before becoming Pastor of Dolores Mission (1986-1992), Father Boyle taught at Loyola High School and worked with Christian Base Communities in Cochabamba, Bolivia. He has also served as Chaplain of the Islas Marias Penal colony in Mexico and Folsom Prison.

He is currently a member of the State Commission on Juvenile Justice, Crime and Delinquency Prevention, and serves on the National Youth Gang Center Advisory Board.

As Executive Director of Jobs For A Future / Homeboy Industries, Father Boyle is a nationally renowned speaker at conferences for teachers, social workers and criminal justice workers about the importance of adult attention, guidance and unconditional love in preventing youth from joining gangs.

This is a start. I really hope she goes thru with it. millions of people behind bars are counting on her.

7. I'm not normally a celebrity
watcher and couldn't care less about Paris Hilton but I did watch the Larry King interview with her this evening. I have to say I thought she was a very sensitive, caring person who truly had an epiphany while in jail. I really hope she is able to turn her life around and use her money and celebrity towards helping people.

9. If she is serious, more power to her
She may move up a notch or two in my opinion (that puts her at Dead Sea level).

Seriously, if she actually does something for the cause she will get a bit of respect for me.

28. WP: Inside the Mind of Paris
By Howard Kurtz

Paris Hilton began by sucking up.

"I consider you an icon," she told Larry King.

After that, the King tried to plumb the depths of her psyche. Let's just say it didn't require any heavy equipment.

Okay, Larry was no Ted Koppel. Or Tim Russert. "Think you got a raw deal?" he asked. But that's his interviewing style.

Hilton's most disingenuous answer--this from a woman who spends every waking minute seeking publicity, from her sex video to her reality show to her underwearless party-going--was when she said she had "no idea" why she attracts so much attention. "I'm just living my life," she said. Right.

There were these revelations:

Being in jail was scary.

The jail food was horrible.

She doesn't like being alone.

It was her lawyer's fault that she drove with a suspended license.

Paris used a lot of therapy-speak: Life is a journey. She feels stronger now. She is getting to know herself. God makes things happen for a reason. I wasn't surprised when she admitted going to a therapist.

She used toddler-speak: Being imprisoned "gave me a time out in life."

But she never quite described what her new purpose in life was. You need handlers for that, I guess.

you are sadly mistaken

Edited on Thu Jun-28-07 01:37 AM by LaPera
on TV as one rich girl gets out of jail...OVER 2.2 million in America! (And growing daily).

Most is easily forgotten when one is off camera and most having long forgotten what one has said.
