European heatwave wilts wide population
http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/?sid=260150

At least thirty five people have died in the intense European heat-wave.

People, wildlife and crops have been affected. Animals are dying, grain is wilting and fruit is ripening weeks early in Italy.

Fish stocks in rivers and lakes are dropping as water is pumped out for agricultural use.

Eight people have died in Greece, which is experiencing its worst heat-wave in one hundred and ten years. Temperatures reached 46 degrees Celsius during five days of sweltering weather.

Fires are sweeping the island of Poros, about two hours from Piraeus port near Athens.

1. They have a way to go to catch Chicago 1995
Estimates from 400 to over 1000 died from the 1995 heatwave. Government, local and national failed again.

2. Other places too
It may be anecdotally but people need to talk to each other. That's a good way to find out what the media will never report.

I've heard that Thailand had a monsoon season during their summer/dry season.

3. Yeah, well I wish they'd send some of it up north
Here in Germany, it is about 14° (about 58°F) grey and rainy, and has been so for a week.
The heat wave is all down in the Balkans and the Med.
