We've heard all the lame excuses for them not impeaching Bush or Cheney.
Well if you are so lame as to take impeachment off the table, at least have the patriotic decency to CENSURE these assholes as they take a crap on our Constitution.
this would be a good political move because the Republicans in Congress would be forced to vote on it, and voting against Censure may hurt them at the next election.
Heck if they want a real gimme, censure just Cheney and put Bush on hold for now. Let those neocons stand up and defend the VP with the lowest approval ratings in history. While all the facts are laid out before everyone's eyes, let those neocons stand up and try to defend torture, domestic spying, secrecy, and the shredding of the Constitution. It really would be a laugh to watch them defend the indefensible. It really would put them in their place. Unless of course, they realize how much the American people hate his guts, that they actually keep their pretty little mouths shut and they vote to Censure. Now wouldn't that be nice.
Many of the arguments against impeachment, even though they are wrong, can't be applied to censure. It wouldn't "divide the country" as they say impeachment would, because the stakes aren't as high.
And since it would force the debate to go to the floor, and bring many facts out into the open, it could end up being a prelude to the real deal, impeachment. As people see everything unfold in the Censure hearings, the call to impeach would grow.

First thing we'd hear is how it has nothing to do with The Real Issues Facing The American People. Let's forget the second, third or fourth thing we'd hear: how do you get past the first to make this an election issue?
