Imagine cheney replaced by fred thompson... |
|
Edited on Thu Jun-28-07 05:46 AM by Philosoraptor
cheney dodges EVERYTHING claiming poor health and retires to the shadows behind the curtain again, or he croaks, and bush picks good ol' reliable fred thompson, former senator/lobbyist leech.
Let's face it, Adolph fucking Hitler would look good compared to snarling big dick. Who would you rather have a beer with, big dick cheney, fat fred thompson, or Adolph?

keep in mind that IF CHENEY leaves, and bush taps Thompson - that Thompson still has to be confirmed by CONGRESS
I seriously doubt that the Dems would confirm any repub who is either in the race or thinking about getting into the race.
Flashback to Nixon tapping Ford after Agnew resigned - Ford was the compromise, Ford was confirmed as VP because at that time he said he had no interest in running for President. Ford did change his mind over the next couple years, so being "burnt" by that I would hope the Dems take a real close look at anyone bush nominates

17. Ford was a very respected Senator, and both houses confirmed him |
|
The President can pick whoever he wants, but they need Congressional approval.

So in that respect he would be a drastic improvement over Cheney.

9. The President chooses a VP, and both houses of Congress must approve |
|
him or her. I seriously doubt that the dems would approve of a Presidential candidate as VP. If I were the dem leadership, my reason would be that they would be too busy campaigning to fulfill the duties of the office. It is going to be next to impossible to find a VP candidate that the Prez and Congrss will confirm.

11. In that case, Congress should refuse to confirm any VP nominee whatever |
|
In that case Speaker Pelosi would first in line for succession to the presidency.

14. Exactly. If Cheney goes we already have a successor. |
|
Constitutionally there is no requirement to replace a VP only a means for replacing one.

|
His assholiness won't get rid of his protector and congilierre, Fredo...ya think he's gonna get rid of crashcart? He'd wet his pants before he would do that. My bets are he didn't fire Rummy...crashcart did. boooshie will only think about replacing crashcart when that goon is dragged off cuffs...and even then, he'd still stick with Unka Dick. He has to...he has little else.
I honestly think booooshie doesn't give a shit who wins the nomination...and he's not gonna go out of his way to help one candidate or another. Knowing this thin-skinned slimeball, he probably is pissed at most the candidates for dissing him for one thing or another. This regime is too short-sighted to worry about anything as far off as next year's elections.

Like Trotsky's perpetual war and Atwater's perpetual campaign, Democratic members of Congress should engage in a perpetual impeachment, where every waking hour they are digging up and compiling evidence while going about their daily duties. It need not be verbose, but it must be always on their mind. Resources like TPM Muckraker and Greg Pallast should be fed tidbits for investigation, on the QT, of course. Constant investigation, constant feeding of solid info to the upper levels of power. There should never be a moment when they are not thinking "how does this impeach * & Cheney". It's a war for our country, unless that's just too much trouble.
They must also be compiling info on the Next Generation of Republican traitors. It's only reasonable.

22. So, that is the main reason? Wow, the world is simple. |
|
Cheney has power because Cheney and his friends in the Pentagon, the judiciary, intelligence services, various agencies, law enforcement agencies, foreign governments and in the multinational corporations and private equity groups have been cultivating power for decades, being led and empowered by their predecessors all the way back before the civil war.
Or, maybe he said boo and the world ran scared. Uh huh. :eyes:
