Parker County, TX Barazos river evacuations ordered

http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/062807dntexweather.1c4797a5.html

Parker County ordered evacuations of hundreds of residents along the Brazos River on Wednesday, and officials feared the worst may be yet to come as the river continued to rise through the night.

The evacuations ordered Wednesday afternoon covered five communities and about 200 residents, said J.C. Travis, an assistant Parker County fire marshal.

Mr. Travis said the Brazos is not expected to crest until sometime Friday, meaning that many more residents along the river west of Fort Worth could be forced to leave their homes.

3. That's what you guys get for hogging it all
I made my offerings to Jupiter Pluvius in the morning, watered the lawn and washed the car windows. Black clouds assembled to the west, but Jupiter was only teasing us. Not a drop, not a spare bit of rain carried dust on the newly cleaned windows was there this morning.

Seriously, I hope the folks along the Brazos are OK, especially Juanita's Beauty Shop from Hell.

8. It stopped raining here about the end of May
Edited on Thu Jun-28-07 10:09 AM by Warpy
except for a few brief showers that didn't amount to anything.

It's been a nice break, actually, from last year's wet summer followed by last winter's incredible snowfalls plus a very wet spring.

My front garden thrives on drought and neglect, so it's doing fine. The lawn has gone brown again, so rain would be welcome.

The monsoons should begin as soon as the cold fronts like yesterday's stop coming this far south.

7. Years ago, we wnet to a quaint old-timey park Near the Brazos
There was an antique merry-go-round and a ranch-style restaurant that our son really enjoyed.. It was also his first time on a horse.. he was more impressed with that than Carlsbad Caverns.. (he was scared in the cave)
