Priest facing sex charges

A 65-year-old Roman Catholic priest who is now serving in North Bay, has been charged by Greater Sudbury Police in connection with alleged sexual assaults in this city 25 years ago.
Father Bernard Cloutier was arrested in North Bay and transported to Sudbury, where he made a brief appearance in bail court Tuesday, before being released.
Cloutier is facing six charges stemming from complaints by two individuals who allege the priest assaulted them over an extended period that began in mid-1979.

Cloutier, who appeared in court in handcuffs and wearing a sports jacket, slacks and a white shirt open at the neck, was released on bail until July 25. At that time, either Cloutier or his lawyer will be back in court in Sudbury to set a date for his trial.
