Obama says he doesn't favor impeachment of Bush, Cheney
WASHINGTON (AP) - US Senator Barack Obama (ber-AHK' oh-BAH'-muh) says he doesn't favor impeachment proceedings for President Bush and Vice President Cheney.

Obama made that comment today in response to a question asked at a meeting in Washington with his Illinois constituents.

The Illinois Democrat says he's distressed by the Bush administration's ethical standards and secrecy. But the presidential hopeful says impeachment should be reserved for "grave" breaches of the president's authority.

Both Obama and US Senator Dick Durbin say having to deal with month after month of impeachment hearings wouldn't be in the best interest of America.

2. Def. not voting fot this man now. What an ass-hat. Let's disregard
the criminal actions. Any want-to-be president who doesn't favor impeachment tells me they want the same powers Bushy grabbed.

3. Just what might constitute "grave breaches?"
What more do we need? I am sorry he made this remark.

4. Grave meaning many US deaths, tens of thousands of Iraqis don't matter
as they don't send campaign contributions anyway.

9. And I say, that any member of Congress that doesn't hold up their oath to the Constitution
are to be held aiding and abetting these criminals. Crimes have been committed and it is their duty to bring those criminals to Justice.

13. But too many are co-conspirators .. they would be implicating people
who helped them along the way to war. like much of the Dem leadership supported the Iraq war... so his position is understandable... though morally repugnant and a slap against the rule of law .

Do we really expect Obama (or any other front-runner for the Dem Party) will do much differently than bush... that he would actually close all US military bases in Iraq, oppose the privatization of oil, allow the people of Iraq to choose their own govt, one that would not be totally dependent on the US?

How naive...

15. I unfortunately believe that there is no two party system anymore, and our candidates
have been sElected for us. I heard a term a while ago, and have used it since, Opposames. The different parties talk different talks, but when push comes to shove, they vote in unison to the benefit of all but the American people. Sometimes, just sometimes, I want to forget about this. To start becoming optimistic again, that perhaps my jaundiced eye has skewed the facts....a woman still wants to dream....

11. It's about the Constitution not
about how long it would take. If he can't understand that how can he be President?
