Former Judge still listed as critical after beating
A former district attorney and Recorder's Court judge in Jesup remained listed in critical but stable condition Wednesday afternoon at Memorial Health University Medical Center after a brutal attack Monday.

<snip>

On Monday, police arrested Bobby Rex Stribling, 45, as a suspect in the beating.

Authorities allege that Stribling went to see Thomas at the latter's small law practice Monday afternoon, beat the judge with a blunt object and then stole his pickup.

<snip>

Although Stribling's arrest record shows many arrests all over southern Georgia, Chief Assistant District Attorney John B. Johnson said his office has found no official connection between Stribling and Thomas.

"Our office didn't prosecute him, and Glenn Thomas didn't handle his case," Johnson said. "So the connection must be from somewhere else."
