FORTUNE Magazine: Business LOVES Hillary - A Surprising Look at who Corporate America Bets On
Edited on Thu Jun-28-07 02:06 PM by StudentsMustUniteNow

For some reason, I got Fortune Magazine in the mail today, and to my surprise Hillary Clinton graced the cover as the candidates business loves.

Also in the article, it says of Obama: "The Illinois Senator has a solid base of business support in Chicago but has also fared well with Hollywood media moguls and has aggressively moved into Clinton's turf among <i> East Coast financiars </i>" (emphasis added).

It says of Edwards, "As a former trial lawyer campaigning on a pro-union platform, Edwards is not the go-to guy for big business. Yet he has important allies, including many at a hedge fund where he once consulted."

Of course it also names all three major Republican presidential candidates as being supported by big business. It's the news about Hillary Clinton being THE candidate business loves and Obama as a runner-up that disturbs me.

Looking here, it looks like Edwards could be another FDR in terms of setting a liberal agenda...if he only had a chance. On the other hand, he could just be playing to the left (since his record is remarkably centrist including a vote for PNTR with China).

EDIT: Found a link online to part of the article: http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/fortune_archive/2007/07/09/100121742/index.htm?postversion=2007062618

7. I'm sorry, but Edwards is so far removed from FDR that the
sentence there is laughable.

11. And you believe, maybe, that as Hitler said
"to defeat us, they must become us"?

I'd rather vote for a democrat, myself.

17. Nope. Looks like we're the suckers
No wonder it's all about platitudes about hope and change...because the economic reality will stay the same no matter what.

19. Thanks for the post
We need to focus more on economic issues and the corporate ties of candidates, not just the horse race, haircuts, poll-tested rhetoric, etc. It will be interesting to see how much corporate and fatcat backing certain candidates do...
