Moore himself showed up at a few of the screenings in Manhattan, New York, creating a wild frenzy among devotees. Moore's distributor, the Weinstein Company, claimed tickets to the advance screenings were being scalped for as high as $40.

So WHY did the manager of my Cinemark Theatre just tell me that there's isn't enough prints?
That's why they're not showing it because The Weinstein Company didn't make enough copies. According to my Cinemark manager anyway. What's going on?

1. 'Sicko' pulled from Heights, other theaters

Is "Sicko" being quarantined?

The Michael Moore documentary about flaws in American health care has abruptly been yanked from some theaters, including the Heights Theater in Columbia Heights, which scrambled yesterday to replace the documentary with the comedy, "Waitress." Local bloggers have suggested a conspiracy behind the move - which, according to a Heights newsletter, affected hundreds of theaters that planned to show the movie this weekend. (Slower release patterns are usually designed to gradually build word-of-mouth for a movie by making it a little harder to see it.) According to the Weinstein Company, which is releasing the film, it's all just a misunderstanding. "No prints were pulled. 'Sicko' is opening on 441 screens Friday and will continue to expand, in the weeks ahead, to theaters across the country," according to a spokeswoman for the Weinstein Company. Noting that the movie sold out 43 screenings in one New York theater last week, she added that "this rollout strategy will help generate tremendous word-of-mouth" about both the movie and health care, in general. - Chris Hewitt

So they only made 441 prints?

2. MM said it is his plan to do a slow distribution this time. He was insipred by the success of
Gore's movie with its limited release and wanted to keep the debate going on a long time like Gore has.

5. The closest was an hour away. I thought I would wait to see if we got it.
But we didn't. I guess I'll drive a hour to see Sicko. But I can't even find it that close.:-(
