3. I still believe in,...but, don't pretend that it exists.
I watch a lot of people believing that, their struggle to JUST GET BY, is tied into "freedom" and "democracy" because,...the teevee or a preacher says so.

2. I like to think back to the '40s. Even play the big band music..etc.
Believe it or not, the war was over, everyone was in a good mood, economy was improving and no more rations. People respected each other, manners were the norm. I wouldn't mind those days back. Bring back FDR!!....lol.

But they didn't get their belongings back. Let's not idealize any era. Every era has its woes.

5. I was born in 1969
At least in this life, so basically our democracy has always been pretty fucked up for me. Couple years in the 90's it wasn't so bad.
