NOTHING is going to stop them. Not subpoenas. Not toothless legislation. Not strongly worded letters. Not hearings. NOTHING.
That is...nothing short of them being physically removed from the White House.
They are like a bully backyard football team who has the ball and runs--breaking every rule in the book because they KNOW that there isn't ANYTHING anyone can do about it as long as people continue to let them play. You CANNOT play by the rules when there is a team that is not. You either take out the team or you get down in the dirt with them.
If Congress doesn't understand this, then there is little hope for the Republic.
For SIX LONG YEARS there was no oversight.
For SIX LONG YEARS they laid the groundwork for this and nothing short of impeachment will stop them.
NOTHING.
What is so hard to understand about that?

All of our American Institutions have been ground beneath the Tyrants heel. All.

To be honest, the judiciary, other than the lawless Imperial Court, has been a strong bulwark against Bushevik Tyranny, for the most part. Certainly MUCH more tnan the legislative branch.

What it tells me is that, other than Busheviks, both Democrats and Republicans take their jobs as judges very serious and try (it seems) to discharge their duties fairly and hoestly.

This is a blanket statement, of course, and and has many exceptions, but is generally true. Is their judicial corruption of the old "brown envelope" as well as the Party Comrades of the Bushie-Nazi style and their attendant corruption rooted ultimately in lawlessness? Of course, but I will say again that if I had to give grades to the institutions that have most strongly resisted the imposition of tyranny, gleichschaltung, I believe the proto-Bushies, the Nazis, called it.

It means "bringing into line". But if I had to give "resistance to tyranny" grades, they would be as follows:

Are they simply skoffing at the American people, during their tenure---in an attempt to
show people that no one tells them what to do? Is this an ego thing?

Or is their a long-term, bigger-picture plan here? The net that these people have cast is
so wide and so frightening. Americans can be labeled "enemy combatants" and detained indefinitely
without an attorney or due process. American can be illegally spied upon, their mail opened
and their email read. America tortures now and we can detain people in international prisons.
Any American can be placed on a "no fly" list---and have their movement restricted without
anyone telling them why their on the list. It's more difficult to leave now. Obtaining a
passport takes months. And on and on and on...

What ARE they doing????

I'm thinking that a best-case scenario is that these thug bullies are behaving like jerks
while they're in charge. They're swinging their manhood about and refusing to play fair
because that's not their style---and they'll leave in 08 and we can all unwind from the PTSD
after they're gone.

That's a BEST-CASE scenario--and I hope to God that's all that this is---just a bunch of bent sociopaths kicking
us--and our democracy--around for a while.

They refuse to acknowledge subpoenas, can't remember anything of substance when they do decide to show up, etc.
What I SIMPLY CANNOT understand is that we have a SLIM majority, I get that.
But we SHOULD have enough of a majority to block harmful legislation just like the Republicans have ENOUGH of a minority to block what they don't want.
There is something just not right with this picture....
But, I digress.
Bushco has a plan. They are almost complete to a fascist state. There are still a few pesky laws on the books that they haven't been able to purge or issue signing statements on. They want the oil in the Middeast. That's the endgame.
However, they better be ready to rule THIS country with an iron fist when they make THAT move. They are acutely aware of it.
