Poll question: OK, DUers: How good or bad is the outlook for the mid-term future of our nation and species?
Edited on Thu Jun-28-07 06:12 PM by tom_paine
(by mid-term future I mean the next 30-50 years)

I have periodically posted these polls as big changes come in and the situation we are in becomes clear. In November, we moved heaven and earth to capture 29 seats in a badly rigged voting system (at the very least odiously gerrymandered by computers, but I believe it is MUCH more than just that, which would be bad enough) where we probably had to win 65-35% to "win" what we got.

And then for our efforts we got this bunch of Dry Powder People who's powder is so dry they've dehydrated the Constitution and Bill of Rights damned near to dust.

Trying to be fair and seeing the good they have done, as well: even if they haven't blunted the CheneyBush War on the American People all that much in concrete terms, the investigations have revealed ALREADY eversomuch about what the Busheviks have been up to, and even though there has been no real action taken on the dozens of felonies reveal, it is still possible that they are making sure they have "enough evidence to plug up the Potomac" before they move because they only get one shot.

But now we see how deep the damage has already been done to our beautiful System of Checks and Balances, how near to Full Sovietization we are at all the braches..complete with BushKGB political officers stationed in EACH AGENCY. (you could have written these last 6 years word-for-word into a movie, shown it to people in the 80s, and scared the bejeebers out of them...they wouldn't have believed it)

The "Supreme" "Court" (which is neither supreme, nor a court, being a de facto arm of the Imperial Branch, which will become abundantly clear if any issues directly affecting the Imperial Family come before it) is both a disgraceful totalitarian tragedy and comedy to free people watching from afar, I imagine.

The environment is deteriorating faster than expected, the "cures" are poised to make the disease worse, such as ethanol or tar sands.

We are reliving the 1890s, just as the Imperial Family has dreamed, but let us remember that the Grand Chessboard led to the horror of DubyaDubyaOne in 1914.

What fresh horror will our new Grand Chessboard lead the world to? Or not. Tell me what you think. Just a pessimist or sadly betrayed by reality, which not only has a liberal bias but a pessimist's bias, as well.

1. I am typically an optimist - but the last 7 years have beaten me down,
and though I get pleasure out of life, my family, my hobbies, I am extremely pessimistic about the near term future of our country - root cause...Bush. Aided and abetted by his cronies and the media.

7. I agree.
I had always thought Americans would stand up and fight something truly outrageous (a stolen election, creeping fascism, high crimes and treason in the executive branch). But, as it turns out, most are like frogs in the proverbial warming pot. They are sitting on their couches, drugged on junk food, watching "news" about Paris Hilton.

6. Remember when a scientists' informed view counted for something?
Now...well, let's just say we didn't maneuver the mighty ship of our nation this close to the Dark Ages by listening to pointy-heads.

Just file that one under "worst-case scenario" and make note that it will be by other means...
