Sicko not playing in my city tomorrow!
We only have 2 theater chains in town. One owns 5 theaters and the other just one. Neither one will be playing Sicko tomorrow!
The largest one has a web page that has announced it as "coming soon" for several weeks now. I went on tonight to get showtimes, and the movie is removed from the site. When I called, they said they would not be getting a print of it so we will not get to see the movie here!
I live in a Republican city but we have over 500K in the town. F911 played here for weeks to cold out crowds.
I'm pissed!

1. It's not playing in my neck of the woods, either.
I even checked Springfield MO, but no luck.

2. Mine either and I am SO FREAKIN' PISSED. When F911 aired it was MONTHS before they played it here.

I guess I'll drive 30 minutes North Saturday Night to see it. We have Classic Cinemas who have 5 theaters in one building and 3 in another. Then we have Cinemark Movies 10. Out of 18 freakin' screens they can't show SiCKO on just ONE??(*&^%$#@

3. My city (Wichita) is the one I would assume everyone would drive to from other places

to see Sicko. We have several smaller towns within an hour's drive. Their theaters only have 1 or 2 screens. They would normally have to come here to see a smaller movie like this. We have over 50 screens in the city!

4. My neighborhood theater had a poster for it....
....but I don't see any online listings for it there--and my town is rather liberal!

5. Well, you COULD get a ripped DVD and organize
a free screening event! All you need is small projector attached to a laptop...

7. Well I have heard from a friend we may get it in a couple of weeks but they
are not sure now. I am just pissed because they had it on the website as coming June 29 for over a month now.

10. I was told by someone
extremely familiar with the motion picture business that the original release was scaled back at the last minute to 800 nationwide theaters from a much higher figure.

Is this another example of our corrupted consolidated media being controlled by political interests?

This picture has the ability to change the political opinion on our healthcare industry that pays out far too much of its cash flow as exorbitant compensation to CEOs and other self interests, and not enough to basic healthcare.

11. I don't think they will be able to stop it. They tried with F911 and it's release
kept growing as demand forced it to a larger audience.

12. My town in southern AZ is not showing it either
Edited on Thu Jun-28-07 11:30 PM by tyedyeto
I was amazed they showed F-9/11 right away and was even more amazed at how many people were there when I went to see it. (conservative area in AZ)

Now, this is a 'retirement' community and one would think these older people would be interested in SICKO. But apparently the theater owners feel other theatrical productions are more important. :sigh:

edit cuz I have a hard time seeing the keyboard. LOL

13. It is playing in Wichita
The web site to look up theatres is wonky. I had far better results when I searched by zip code rather than city name, state.

FWIW, my first search using a Wichita zip was for the 67201 area, and it shows the movie playing at the Dickinson Northrock 14 and at the Warren 13th Avenue. So get out there and see the movie!

14. The Warren Theater removed its ad for it this week. I searched for the whole
city and couldn't find it. What site did you go to?
