Fox is still banging away
at the "Bomb" in London. Not much coverage on the other channels which may or may turn out to be a guy who had a propane bottle for his grill and some nails in his car. Earlier they had a bomb expert on saying it wouldn't have done much damage since the gas "wouldn't really detonate". For some reason he got cut off.

This brings us to my Tip of the Day. Don't go to Home Depot and get your BBQ tank filled and remember you need a box of nails.

OOOPPPs, now they say it's nuts and bolts. Chilling

1. I noticed the contrast.
Earlier I saw two channels.

Fox's graphic said "massive explosive." CNN International's said "potentially viable bomb."

Eye of the beholder, I guess. ;)

2. man
Fox cracks me up. If you flip channels between Fox and the other news channels you go through these "terror" mood changes. When you hit Fox you piss your pants and stuff and when you hit one of the other channels you calm down a bit.

5. I know what you mean
I landed on Fox first in my rotation and I feared that a major event had happened. It seemed like 9/11 redux. I flipped to CNN which was airing the CNN-I feed (which they should do full-time, by the way) and it seemed more like a mosquito bite. Turned over to MSNBC, and Dan Abrams was yapping about Paris or that wrestler dude, or something. Sigh.

6. LOL
I saw the same thing, Dan was going all buck wild over the wrasslin' guy. They keep saying a crude device and I have to say using propane is exceptionally crude.

11. BBC was reporting it as controlled demolition
Somehow I think I trust that more.

But yeah, it's all fun and games.

13. Who's exaggerating?
Fox saying that the world is about to end, or you saying that it was all a misunderstanding over a barbecue?

7. Don't worry, CNN is bringing up the rear.
Edited on Fri Jun-29-07 05:56 AM by Atman
CNN has actually made my morning tv decision easier -- MSNBC. I loathe Joe Scab, but that's what makes CNN's shift righter (more righter) so amazing. CNN has gotten so Fox-like that even Joe Scarborough sound reasonable.

For instance, CNN's Nic Robertson made sure to fan the flames this morning by saying this "possibly viable explosive device" certainly could be the work of Al Qaeda. He continued "Now, that's pure speculation, but this is the type of thing Al Qaeda would like to do." BE AFRAID! BE AFRAID! We're not even sure it's a bomb, but if it is, it's the type of bomb Al Qaeda would certainly want to use to blow up your children! BE AFRAID!

BE AFRAID, GODDAMMIT! GEORGE BUSH ISN'T GETTING HIS WAY, AND SOMEONE'S GONNA PAY FOR IT!

Man the Fear market just went way up. I'm on CNN right now also and just the banner alone scares the crap out of me.

10. jesus don't watch it!
For a board that hates fox news, you guys are always watching and reporting. Same thing with Hannity and O'Reilly. You hate them, they are evil, yet you watch. No wonder their ratings are so high

12. Also, yesterday when poor GW did his live quick press conference
with no questions allowed on his defeat of the immigration bill, I flipped to Fox to see what they had. Can you believe it, no coverage of his live press. They always cover him when he is live. However, he was really down about it.

Just heard a terrorist expert on the bombings and said one of the causes of an increase is showing how bad the war itself is going in Iraq. They are able now to focus more on England and the US,their two principal targets. Had never heard that analogy before.

14. That was it?!
Yesterday (or last night, whenever) I saw the Yahoo! headline to effect of "Car Packed with Explosives Found in London." You mean it was a guy planning on a little home improvement and a barbeque afterwards?! How freaking hilarious? Just what are the standards to get a journalism degree these days?
