Anonymous Benoit Wikipedia Editor Speaks Again
By sonia zjawinski EmailJune 29, 2007 | 8:48:32 AMCategories: Benoit, Celebrity

The anonymous Wikipedia user, who wrote an entry about Nancy Benoit's death 14 hours prior to police finding her, her son's, and WWE pro wrestler Chris Benoit bodies, is still at large. The user, known by his/her IP address 69.120.111.23, anonymously posted again, this time on WikiNews, explaining that the edit to Benoit's page was just a "terrible coincidence" fueled by rumors and gossip.

Despite the new post, no one knows who this person is. The user's IP address can be pinpointed to Turner and Pepper Ridge Road in Stamford, Connecticut, roughly three miles from WWE Headquarters.

Could this mysterious person work for WWE? Did they post from home just ten minutes away from WWE HQ?

Today WikiNews, who originally broke the story, said:

...a post made at 12:26 AM EDT Friday morning to the talk page of a Wikinews article headlined as the "Death of Nancy Benoit rumour posted on Wikipedia hours prior to body being found", the user admitted to writing that Nancy Benoit was dead at the Wikipedia article page for Benoit came from information that was garnered from "rumors and speculation online." Freakishly, the post turned out to be true.
The IP Address of the individual making the apology was identical to that of the one who posted the Nancy Benoit rumor, a strong confirmation of the admission's authenticity. The lengthy apology was not signed, with the individual claiming, "I am just an everyday individual who posted a wrongful remark at the time that received so much attention because it turned out to actually happen."

3. That's why it says (NOT!) in the subject line.
Do I have to get Borat to teach you about "Not" Jokes?
