SiCKO, it's not about Moore's politics, yours or mine. It's about health care.

Some of us, across the spectrum, may be missing the point. 'SiCKO' is a documentary about access to health care - regardless where anyone is on the political spectrum.

Yeah, health care in this country is mired in politics.

Yet Moore's documentary speaks straight to the possibility that it doesn't have to be so encumbered with our other differences.

9 million uninsured children have parents of all political stripe. All deserve equal access to appropriate and affordable health care.

So, too, with the uninsured adults in this country. I care less who they voted for in any election, in this case. They deserve access to affordable health care.

3. Good point, pinto, except...
I agree with you, pinto, except for one thing.

What makes Sicko even more scandalous is that it's not about uninsured people. It's actually about people who have insurance but still can't receive or afford the care they need.

9. Did you watch Larry King tonight? A 60 year old uninsured man (he and his wife are uninsured)
told Michael he wished he would use his visibility to do something other than telling the world how bad America is. WTF? I honestly don't think the RWers are smart enough to "get it." They really aren't. Anyone ignorant enough to vote for the psycho 2 times does not have the brain cells to understand how badly they are being screwed. Instead of that uninsured man thanking Michael Moore for this important film, he had to take an ideological stance.

10. No, I didn't hear him.
I don't know what kind of hold Bush has on these people. Really I don't.

8. Saw it today with my college aged sons, liked the Cat Stevens song at the end.
We all recall he was put on a no fly list for his politics.

Thinking it was a smart choice for oldest son to take all those years of french.

11. yup, saw it tonight
The morans are going to have a hard time spinning this as liberal hippie propaganda. It's so fucking obvious, I'm surprised the facts don't leap up and bite their noses off.

12. It transcended healthcare
Edited on Fri Jun-29-07 11:46 PM by Strawman
We treat working people in this country like trash. There's just this fear and pettiness and suspicion about being taken adavntage of by "welfare queens" that seems to overwhelm our humanity.

I was angry and downright fucking ashamed of our country sitting in the theater watching that movie tonight. "Who are we?" is right, Mike. Who the fuck are we?

14. the film is hitting the right wingers too
everyone knows someone or has themselves personally got an issue with HMOs.

Didn't hurt to have NIXON tell the truth about the idea behind healthcare for profit schemes in one of his oval office tapes...for that act alone, the repubs deserve to die as a party.
