Joyful Critic Joel Siegel, Gone at 63
http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/Story?id=3324632&page=1

Surrounded by family and friends, ABC's beaming and insightful movie critic Joel Siegel has died in New York, after a long and remarkably courageous struggle with cancer, at the age of 63.

Both colleagues and fans delighted in his unique way of blending cheerful good humor and piercing critical acumen in reviews that made them instantly clear to anyone. You knew exactly what he thought — often with the bonus of a good laugh.

3. I had the pleasure of meeting him one night atop the Empire State Building...
...it was part of the bi-centennial celebrations and we were among the tourists on the Observation Deck to watch the fireworks display. He noticed me taking pictures and came over to ask about shutter speeds and f/stops. He was so pleasant and friendly...a really nice guy.

6. I heard this earlier this evening. Very sad news. I watched him when he was starting out as critic
and always enjoyed him. The night sky just got a little bit brighter as it has a beautiful new star to adorn it!
