Our president is bad but Farenheit 9/11 is misleading and presents no alternatives |
|
Edited on Sat Jun-30-07 10:28 AM by proud2Blib
Three years after his movie came out, we still have the worst president ever. He still plays golf, goes fishing and spends way too much time on vacation. He still walks around holding hands with Arabs. And in spite of the ice cream truck stunt, Congress STILL fails to read the bills they pass.
Curse you, Michael Moore. How dare you make a movie and do NOTHING to solve the problem you point out!!
Why do you hate America, Michael?
I figured we may as well start another Michael Moore bashing thread.

Some of these critics today remind me of the folks who criticized F 9/11 but refused to see it. LOL

15. I actually met one of those people! |
|
She bashed both Bowling for Columbine AND F 9/11 but never saw either of them!
She actually tried debating the scene in Bowling for Columbine where MM gets an account at a bank for the free gun. She said that the process took place over several days but that MM wore the same clothes to make it appear that it all happened in one day. I guess she read this on a blog or something. Anyway, I had to inform her that the scene also included him filling out a background check and a discussion about how long the %*&@! process would take. Then I told her that if she would take two hours and just watch the damn movie, then she would know what the hell she was talking about. She didn't have anything to say in response to that.
I never watched Passion of the Christ. From the hype and the previews, it just didn't look like anything I would want to see but I don't bash it and pretend to know everything about it in defense for not liking it. It would never occur to me to do that.

7. Wow, what a knee-jerk assumption ... any criticism of Moore is bashing? |
|
You think only a wingnut could find something to criticize? That borders on idolatry.
Michael doesn't "hate America". Michael is a human being with faults, like all film makers. I don't agree with anyone 100% of the time, do you?

8. The "MM presents no alternatives" was always the funniest argument to me |
|
I never understood how people who watched Faux news could get on MM's case about presenting both sides. It's not like they're use to that sort of thing, right?

entire MSM is RW propaganda and they won't even acknowledge it (which MM has done).

19. Very true. What kind of alternatives were they expecting other than "end the damn war"? |
|
Did they want MM to suggest actual military strategy? Perhaps do the job of our Congress critters and propose a timeline? Had MM presented a detailed plan to end the war in Iraq the same people who now claim to want an alternative would have bashed the man even more for giving them one.

11. Shhh... Don't You Know ??? - MM Made Hillary Look Bad In His Film... |
|
Therefore, the attack of the Bashistas. Weinstein wanted the scene about Hillary cut, but Moore refused. Link: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/06/21/AR2007062102150.htmlAnd I say... Good for Michael Moore. :toast:

25. Film says post 93 reform attempt Hillary did not push reform-and running for Senate did not refuse $ |
|
from insurance company related doners.
A pretty weak hit in my opinion - indeed I do not see why anyone from Hillary's camp would bother to ask to have it removed - oh wait - they didn't, did they.
It was Harvey Weinstein, whose company provided financing for the film, who wanted it removed who felt that it was not on point and did not move the film along as smoothly as he wanted. And he let Moore have his way despite being a friend of Hillary.
Amazing how some in the media have jumped on this one point and ignored the film's call for single payer national health - hmmmm - maybe the Harvey was correct that the scene screwed up the message and perhaps should have focused not on contributions to politicians, but on the real source of insurance company power - the agents currently working and the former agents that are now in politics?

20. Never mind the troubling content of the movies. Focus on MM instead. |
|
As long as Moore remains the focus, the MSM can avoid confronting the troubling circumstances surrounding 9/11, the questionable ascension of the Bush regime, our horrible health care system, and the greedy, cold-blooded insurance companies who control it.

26. I always wonder who the Moore-bashers are trying to protect |
|
I mean, why would anybody in their right mind, unless they are paid, jump to the defense of the US Health Care System? I've spent many times in emergency rooms in the US and the visit has NEVER been less than 4 hours. Things obviously aren't right in this country and yet people insist on defending the status quo by attacking someone who points out its faults. I just don't understand why anyone would defend the current system.
