2. Never would have predicted her singing a Stones song with Keith Urban
But it worked. And yes, I've thought Alicia Keyes was hot since the first time I saw her on VH 1.

7. She tore up the vocals on that.
There are singers then there are people in Alicia's class.

9. well,
we'll see if Alicia Keys is still going strong and selling out stadiums around the world in 25 years like that "poor thing" Madonna.

Nothing against Alicia -- who I enjoy, by the way --, but ... we'll see.

10. Yea, Madonna is a living legend....
I think it was meant to mean that she's kinda fizzled out as she's become older and the naughty girl routine that made her so popular isn't all that powerful for her anymore (she's like 45 or something right?).

13. oooo, be careful
I don't think you're insinuating that an older woman - and by older I mean one who isn't 20 or 25 -- can't be sexy. Her naughty girl routine really isn't in evidence as much anymore. Yeah, she can be a brat and flip the bird in bush's face and the crowd loves it, but it isn't the over-the-top sexuality of her earlier days. She's still narcissistic enough to know she's hot, but smart enough to realize that people won't react the same way to a 48 year old woman (I think she's 48, maybe 47) gyrating like they would a 20 year old woman.

I think Alicia Keys is phenomenally talented, but to have a career with the longevity of Madonna or anyone else who's been around 20+ years takes more than talent. It takes an all-consuming drive, an innate business sense when it comes to one's image (which is, like it or not, first and foremost in many people's minds) and those never-ending wells of creativity that feed you and that you dip into to make that next album and stage that next concert without repeating yourself endlessly. I suspect Madonna does that better than most. And those who ape her in concert (Christina Aguillera, Mariah Carey, Britney ) just can't pull it off like she does.

I look forward to seeing where Alicia Keys goes next. How she takes what she has and morphs it into something else more interesting, groundbreaking, etc. I look forward to how her own discoveries about life and herself echo in her music. But I also look forward to seeing what Madonna comes up with in her upcoming album. Should be interesting. :-)

14. She'll be 49 next month
and still going strong.

Keys is gorgeous and has some pipes. We were watching yesterday and my bf said "I hate her." I said "Really?! Why?!"

"She's way too pretty to have that much talent. I hate people like that."

Hehehe
