Today I saw SICKO!
I learned that the reason why our healthcare is so expensive is not because techniques are improving--it's because corporate America is so greedy!

One question, though. Why were the Canadian police chasing after that one lady from Detroit trying to get Canadian health care?

5. It was unreal....
...and the health-insurance boondoggle is just one example of how America has eroded
from a great, generous nation into a corrupt, me-centered, greedy country.

Our nation is "sick"...and "Sicko" showed us one symptom of that sickness.

I tell ya...after I saw "Sicko" I wanted to move somewhere else. Not to get
free healthcare, but to be a part of a nation that cares about people, rewards
rational, intelligent discourse and is full of caring, kind, centered people
who are not obsessed with consumerism.

Our nation really has gone downhill, and you only have to see how others
in distant countries live and behave--to understand that we're a broken nation.

6. Speaking of "not obsessed with consumerism"....
....I noticed that the cars doctors in France use to make house calls (yes, HOUSE CALLS! :wow:) with are tiny little buggers that go REALLY fast through the streets of Paris. No ass-dragging SUVs there!

11. I think I maybe saw one SUV in Paris, if any...
Seriously. I was there for 3 weeks, and I was looking. Nope. Teeny, tiny cars and motorcycles. :D

17. And why can't we get cars like that...
...in America?

European countries, and other countries--drive these teeny little cars.

We can't even get anything that small--unless you count my first-grader's Cozy Coupe! :)

Ya ever get the feeling that America is just one big frickin, heartless, corporate-owned,
rotting piece of real estate? I'm sure big oil made sure that small cars weren't available
in the US, and the auto manufacturers complied and our fabulous law makers saw to it that
big cars with low mileage were the standards. ...and they clap and cheer for themselves
when fuel-economy standards are raised in the slightest.

We are trapped inside a Web of money-grubbing, perverse corporatists who could care less
about humanity, morals or the well being of this planet.

I want my money back.

18. You've hit on it.
A nation that cares. We certainly do not live in a country that does. This is primarily due to propaganda though.

8. She was claiming to be a Canadian citizen when
she is really an American citizen. She was basically stealing access to health care. It's similar to when a parent lies about living in a better school district in order to get a better education for their kid. In Missouri lying about living in a school district is called educational larceny. Sad that people must do that to secure a good education; just as it's sad that the woman from Detroit was driven to lie about her citizenship.

10. I wanted to slap the kids of the couple who moved to
Denver to live in their daughter's spare room. They worked hard to provide their kids with good educations (Michael Moore said one had attended the Univ of Chicago) and those folks were treated poorly by their kids.

Brats. It's not like the parents WANTED to live in a tiny cluttered room.

16. I kept on thinking that, though the dad was a union
worker, he was probably a "Reagan" democrat. His kids behaved in a very Republican manner; blaming the parents for their financial woes, instead of the screwed up profit based system.

13. Some parts of the film were a little complicated to follow.
Like all that stuff about how the whole system works to get our money, and all the middlepersons involved. Well, what do you expect?

In other countries, the only reason why they have forms to fill out is not to turn poor people away, but just so each person gets exactly the right care fo their health needs! Pure and simple.

14. yes, this country is being bled dry
by being nickled and dimed to death. Sorry for the cliches. Who was it that said in France, the government fears the people not the other way around. I thought that was priceless.

Michael Moore does it again. Another great movie. Oh, and go Spartans! (MSU - you know, the hat - Tigers, too).
