No Live Earth coverage in the St. Louis Post Dispatch |
|
I was flabbergasted to notice there was NO coverage of Live Earth in our local newspaper....other than a small picture of some people tossing around an Earth beach ball. I sent the following letter to the editor:
I searched both the Saturday and Sunday editions of the Post Dispatch for stories about the Live Earth concert that was held on Saturday but all I managed to find was a single, small photo of a group of people tossing around a small inflatable earth ball. I even went online to StlToday but couldn't find anything there, either. Wow, you'd think an event that was coordinated across the world in 8 different countries and viewed by millions of people - live, on television, or on the internet - would have deserved a few lines of print. I mean, no matter what you think the purpose of the event was - climate change awareness, political commercial, or entertainment extravaganza - I would think it would justify a story or two. Can someone explain the lack of coverage? I guess it's no wonder most young people don't read the newspaper - especially when something of this significance to a lot of them is ignored.
