Draft Al Gore, The True Heir To FDR and JFK
by Brent Budowsky | Jul 8 2007

As 2 billion people join the LiveEarth concert on seven continents, a group of New Hampshire citizens has started a movement to put Al Gore on the ballot in New Hampshire.

Last week a poll in New Hampshire showed Al Gore winning the primary in that state and this coming fall I predict Al Gore will win the Nobel Prize for peace.

Every so often, in America, voters have an opportunity to fire the shot that will be heard around the world, to lift the spirits of America and lift the stature and reputation of America around the world.

It is time for a genuine and authentic national draft movement to put Al Gore's name on the ballot in every state where it is possible and more from worthy advocacy to direct action.

Every American should read Al Gore's book The Assault On Reason, a manifesto for freedom and democracy in the modern world, a sweeping indictment of the sins and shames of the George Bush era and a call to arms for everything that America can be.

In my view The Assault On Reason is the single most profound and important book since 9-11 in describing what has gone so catastrophically wrong during the Bush years, and what needs to be done.

1. K&R - I wholeheartedly agree! FDR, JFK & AAG!
Well, I guess "aag" doesn't flow from the tongue quite like the other initials ;), but I still believe he's our generation's FDR!

11. Hope so.
I am less convinced than I was - but would be ever so incredibly grateful if he did choose to run.

5. Al, we need you!
We need you to fix FEMA - again!
We need you to fix National Security - again!
We need you to fix the economy - again!
We need you to fix the image of America in the rest of the world that Bush has tarnished. You already did so to some extent with Live Earth, but you are so well-known and well-respected around the world both for your work as VP and as a private citizen that the moment you are inaugurated the world will begin to respect us and look to us for leadership again.
We need you to lead us into new treaties not only to lower greenhouse gasses, but for every aspect of the environment.

NO ONE has the experience, the vision, the knowledge, and the leadership that you have to do what needs to be done to put this country - and by example and TRUE leadership, the World - on track.

I like Edwards, and I like Obama. I think either of them will make fine Presidents one day. But NO ONE has the capabilities and potential that you do.

WE NEED YOU, AL! ANSWER THE CALL!

6. Even if it is for only one term we NEED you Al!
Edited on Sun Jul-08-07 11:34 AM by calipendence
I would not fault you at all for saying that you only want to do this for one term and get back to fighting the climate crisis. If you can help get this country started in the right direction with so many things, and have a very great running mate like a Russell Feingold or John Edwards who could help you this term and then take over the charge and path you set, that I think is what people want!

Perhaps at the end of a term, even if you start out only wanting one, you'll realize that you can do more to help solve this planet crisis by staying in office a subsequent term. But you can cross that bridge when you come to it!

Use the force Al! You are FILLED with it!

16. We need to think ahead. The next President is going to face
monumental problems. It will not be a time for on-the-job training. Al Gore is the answer. He has shown that he has the intelligence, character and integrity to face adversity, to rise above it, and to understand the future. The President sworn into office in March 2009 is going to have to hit the ground running. Run, Al, run! The country needs you.
