The movie 'Shooter' actually seemed to take a number of pot shots at the Bush Administration |

The other day I was at a Freeper friends house. He had rented 'Shooter' because he is the type to watch violent, action type movies. I was not at all interested in watching it but once it got going I started to like it more and more! I got the feeling they modeled some of the characters after Cheney, Bush and Rove. It was all about secret governments pulling all kinds of crap for oil! I actually would recommend it after having now seen it.
On Edit: The digs at the Bush Administration went completely over the head of my Freeper friend. He had no idea it was attacking Bush Co. all through the movie.

3. Funny you should say this... |

I just watched that movie too. I picked it up at my local library and did not have high expectations, since I read somewhere it was sort of a 24-style right-wing fantasy. I was surprised. My opinion of the film is the same as yours.

standing satire and irony. Rednecks made Archie Bunker into a hero and never got the point of that show, and I doubt many of them ever understood what M.A.S.H. was about.

Preposterous.
A deeply stupid film. It was, however, good for many many laughs as we made fun of the absurd plot, the fantasies of American masculinity, and the presentation of political culture. It was perhaps the dumbest film made in the last five years, and entertaining as hell precisely for its utter stupidity.
You're not seriously praising this film, right? You're being sarcastic, I hope?

The average Republican is utterly clueless about what the administration they support is really about. The vast majority of them probably still think we are in Iraq to fight against the people who attacked us on 9/11.

Even though it was a Senator behind it all, it was pretty obvious what party that Senator belonged to. I guess making the villian the Vice Persident would have been a little "too" obvious. Sure, parts of the movie were extremely unlikely - but after all, it is a movie.
