Sorry, Gore supporters. Al Gore says he won't run, and I agree he shouldn't.

I like the new Al Gore much better than the old one.

Al Gore is now a rock star, but he no longer is a politician, at least in the traditional sense. He's said as much and claims he has no plans to run for anything. I believe him.

I think he does more good doing what he did yesterday than he could ever do running for office. The new Gore operates outside our broken political system; he knows it's broken, and you and I do, too.

The truth is, I really didn't like Al Gore the politician. I admit it. As a politician, he sucked.

As a citizen freed from politics, he makes a much more valuable contribution to the world than he ever could as a traditional American politician, all of whom are bought, sold, and traded like slaves to the global corporate entity he once supported.

Now he doesn't have to. He's free.

America has lost its standing in the wider world. We're now Spain, Portugal, Great Britain, Holland, ancient Greece, Babylon, and hell yeah, the Soviet Union. All rolled into one.

The neocon agenda has completely destroyed the American dream.

I give credit to Gore; I never liked him. Calculating political insider.

Now, I do. He has proved that he recognizes globalization for what it is: We're all in this together.

He's finally gained my respect.

Dude, what took so long?

2. here we go again
I agree with you. Al is perfectlysuited and comfortablein his current tole. We need to mov-on fromthis default assumption thaat because he has not deifinitevely rulled it out that he must be running.

Nothing wrong with hioping nothing wrong with working for a draft Gore movement. but the blind belief that he is simply waiting in the winf to rescuse the parties after he wins the Nobel Peacce Prixe or at a brokered convention is the definition of wishful thinking with no practical basis.

3. I think the main reason Gore was able to pull off Live Earth is that
EVERYONE is wondering, "Will he run...?" He therefore generates interest.

If he doesn't run, that mystery/interest factor will be totally gone and hence he will lose an incredible amount of the sway he currently holds. No question.

The ONLY way he can maintain his current level of effectiveness, therefore, is if he runs for and attains the Presidency...the most powerful position in the world. He can then delegate his current activities to others.

Al needs to run, and when he does, 99% of Democrats will lend him their full support. Watch for it.

5. He won't
Why would he?

Nobody has ever been screwed over by the American political system more than Al Gore, with the possible exception of Samuel J. Tilden. (more here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samuel_J._Tilden )

You still think he's gonna run. He won't.

Let me make this clear: I will vote for the Democratic nominee, period.

Dollars to doughnuts, it ain't Al Gore.
