1. Maybe, like many of us, they thought it just another over hyped, under effective publicity stunt |

The reports I heard said that the audience was pretty much using the 'educational' breaks for beer runs.

2. Oh, it was neither of those! |
|
It absolutely was not overhyped; in fact, it was underhyped, at least in the American media. And it was plenty effective and will continue to be. It was immediately effective in putting serious environmental issues in the "pop-culture" spotlight, if you will, and it will continue to be effective insofar as private citizens can do something to help. Moreover, I truly believe it has helped us reach the tipping point; enough people are aware and angry that we can start truly voting with our pocketbooks.
I just wondered if the official policy of the White House was to, as usual, ignore it and hope it will go away.

5. Tell that to my 11 year old daughter. |
|
She wanted to watch to see some musical acts; ended up learning a whole lot and has told me what changes we should make around our home. It made an impact on her and hopefully others of her generation who are going to inherit the mess.

the centennial of Robert A. Heinlein's birth all weekend, that's where I was. Had no idea some concert was taking place somewhere.
Not everyone pays attention to the same things.

thing to be doing - but you weren't implying that what 2 billion other folks were up to was a waste of time either as post #1 did.

us your critique? That explains why you're on message with the dark side.

Interestingly enough, even an "over hyped, under effective publicity stunt" can work. Just look at 9/11 -- it killed fewer people than die in car crashes in a single month, yet it's provided six years of endless publicity fodder for the Reich Wing.
Don't underestimate the value of a well-placed, well- timed, well-executed publicity stunt.

4. Don't know, but I do know the repukes tried to STOP the concert on the Mall in D.C. |
|
I had just tuned in and heard Al Gore mention that. How pathetic they are. They will do ANYTHING to stop the truth from coming out. They will do ANYTHING to give their filthy rich corporation polluting rights and stop regulations that could cost their corporate buddies a few dollars.:(. How can anyone NOT CARE ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT?

7. Just needed my daily dose of outrage, I guess |
|
I haven't found much mention of the concert even happening in the mainstream online media (except for CBS and MSNBC, of course -- sponsors), but I was hoping against hope the White House would have some statement.

9. It's been under-reported in the MSM as far as I can tell.... |
|
so my guess is that the plan is to ignore it and hope it goes away.
