With more pressure being put on the White House from defecting Republicans, I get the sense that things are going to start moving. Troops will be redeployed by the time the election season is in full gear next year.

Of course, this is what needs to happen. We can't stay there, but I am having premonitions that in 08' we are going to see violence in Iraq and the region the likes of which we have not even imagined. As the troops withdraw, we will see the full, violent failure of the greatest foreign policy mistake in American history, and it won't be pretty. It's going to be a lot uglier than when we got out of Vietnam.

I hope I'm wrong.

2. Turkey will sink us if they invade northern Iraq
Our Peshmerga allies with their PKK friends will demand we take their side against the Turkish Army. If we don't, they will turn against our troops as well. With Iraq splintering like Yugoslavia, both Saudi Arabia and Iran could launch large covert operations to support various Sunni and Shia militias in the struggle for control.

3. That's what Bush and co. keeps telling us. They haven't been right about anything
in regards to this illegal invasion and occupation, up to now.

Perhaps, the removal of a brutal foreign occupation from one of the region's countries will have some beneficial effects, as well.

Just saying. MKJ

4. "Warm 'em up, boys; the time's getting near..."
Here in the "Focus Groups", we all knew it would end like this.
