Do we really want to win in 08? What we have to do
Regardless of the cause - cimate change, healthcare, education, AIDS, economic recovery, the deficit, etc. people support for the next administration, we must get united under a single cause - a single message.

This war has us strapped. Dennis Kucinich has said it in every debate - we can't do anything until we get out of this war. What's more we have to revolutionize our thinking in this country. We have to go from a mindset of killing and destruction to one of construction. We have to stop allowing the terror from within - the government controlling the people through fear.

During the Live Earth concert, Melissa Etheridge asked "What has happened to us?" America used to be a nation that looked for solutions. We were a creative nation that solved problems through constructive means. What has happened to us? This is a question that must be addressed and is at the core of how and why the American people stood by as we entered this unholy war. This administration divided and conquered the American people. Of course, this administration has not be solely to blame. We have been getting fat and lazy for many years. Prejudices have been boiling just under the surface waiting for someone to take advantage of the people's fear. But now is the time to wake up and unite under a single cause.

The Live Earth events were awe-inspiring Saturday. I personally feel there is no bigger issue facing human kind; however, we can do nothing about it until we wake up and see that the very people doing the most damage to our environment are behind this administration's war. Even if we had a President who wanted to solve the climate crisis, we couldn't act. To get anything done, we have to get out of Iraq. We have to acknowledge that our resources and futures have been pissed away on a war built to create a constant state of fear in the American people. Do we have enemies? Yes, we always have. But the real enemy in this war is fear.

Americans have always been known for their ingenuity and persistence. We've always been cocky and confident believing there was no crisis too big for us to solve. It was like that from the beginning. A bunch of upstarts believed that they could gain their independence from the most powerful country in the world - and they did it. No challenge was too big. What has happened to us? Fear has happened to us. Fear is a tactic that has always been used to subdue people. Fear is the bully's weapon. Fear is behind all abusers of power. Fear is the only real enemy facing us. Fear is terrorism. And we have been terrorized by this administration. This has to be our message. No more fear!
