1. Hard to believe they don't have the "fix" in already...
They will get David Sentelle and his accomplice to rule on this and then on to the Supreme Court where the votes are already counted.

5. That settles any question of WH involvement on the issue
The WH can't claim they had no involvement any more. Invoking EP is an in your face "Yes! We were involved. And if you think we're going to tell you anything about it, you can go fuck yourself!"

7. Executive what?
I'm still of Raoul Berger's opinion: there is no such thing as executive privilege. It is a constitution myth created by the Eisenhower administration in an attempt to tell Senator McCarthy to get lost. It's just a lot of steer manure.

Congress has the power to investigate the actions of the executive branch and when the president doesn't cooperate, that is a possible subject for impeachment. In the case of Nixon, it was the third article of impeachment that was recommended by the House Judiciary Committee.

43. What if they decided to ignore the president?
He can't fire them. He can't charge them with anything, because they'd be complying with a lawful order.

But wait, maybe that's it.

Maybe he WANTS a showdown.

9. And this is surprising?
Bush has shown over and again that he believes the powers of the President are ABSOLUTE. I was telling my husband the other day that if Congress got up the balls to impeach the son of a bitch he'd just refuse to appear before Congress. He has demonstrated a total disregard for the Constitution since day 1. Nothing he does surprises me.

12. Now Let's See How Corrupt Things Are...
Yep, Malaise...BRING IT ON!!!

We were gonna get here sooner or later...let's roll!! It's time to push this puppy and see how badly boooshie has corrupted the judicial system. To date, he's had a terrible track record in court cases where he goes up against the Constitution. If there was one thing that pissed people off about Nixon during Watergate it was his attempt to use Executive Privilidge...which confirmed our fears at the time that there was worse corruption going on than we knew. This will do the same trick to the few boooshie loyalists out there...and solidfy the prevailing public opinion of how corrupt this regime is.

We all know there's precious little "National Security" involved here...not when you're talking about firing Prosecutors or illegally tapping phones and email or torturing people. These are serious crimes that all but the most rabid kool-aid drinkers can defend.

The GOOP and boooshie jumped the shark with the Libby pardon...and in the process he's unmasked how partisan and selfish he and his horde are. For those who didn't realize how out of control this regime is...the lights are starting to turn on.

The good thing here is boooshie's all but handing Conyers new impeachment articles every day.

20. Leave It To DUDoomers To Help You With That...
(btw...my term!!!)

Someone I'm sure will tell you how the fix is in...I read a post the other day that the boooshie defense was long prepared and that's why Fielding is running the cover-up (just like he did for Nixon, Raygun and Poppy booosh) and Roberts and Alito are the ultimate gatekeepers.

I'm hoping boooshie runs First District Court. He's already pissed several of the judges off with the Libby commutation...including Sentelle...who was Ken Starr's biggest fan...so he's not gonna get any favor from his friends. Also the more he breaks laws to protect his cronies, the more shit comes to light. Either way, he comes off as more crooked.

Also...this could be to our advantage in the future. By stonewalling, boooshie has prevented prosecutions from moving forward...stalling them, but not shutting them down. He can't commute or pardon what hasn't been prosecuted and it may be a blessing that this phase (including the evetually retro-Impeachement of both booooshie & cheney), once these goons are gone from the Beltway and unable to protect their enablers.

Cheers...

19. Amusing. From a stance of denying any pResidential involvement in the decision ...
... or, indeed, even any direct involvement by the Attorney General, they now leap all the way to the "nuclear option" that the Supreme Court has clearly recognized only to the extent of confirming that it can be invoked when the oversight of the executive would impair that branch's national security concerns.

So, just exactly what is the "national security concern" regarding the firing of US Attorney's who acted to prosecute political corruption in the GOP???

It doesn't even pass the laugh test.

A: Because our side has caved in so many times in the past, including on funding the occupation of Iraq. Wow, what a great strategy that turned out to be.

The next steps needs to be a step toward impeachment. Even if its only to start using the right terms: criminal, illegal, high crimes, etc. Its time to start moving in the right direction instead of waiting to see what Bush will do next.

Either that, or they've already abducted one of her grandchildren, and are holding him/her to make sure impeachment stays off the table.

There's no other possible excuse for not prosecuting this criminal cabal that has taken over our government.

If Pelosi's the problem, she needs to step down.
