1. Interesting that none are modern
except perhaps the Brazillian one, which I personally would not have put on the list.

3. For the first time people could vote and rally for their choice.
Don't know if that's a good thing..........
Though impressive as far as statues and placement goes........this beat out this wonder to the top seven.....

5. Christ the Redeemer?
What a joke. It's impressive, but it's not a 7 wonder. The vote has been stuffed. I would put Yankee Stadium ahead of Christ the Redeemer. lol And I'm not even a Yankee fan.

7. I hope that the Pyramids of Giza were not even in the race
that their place is secure, being the only wonder from the ancient world still standing

15. They were in the race. From the article:
Other contenders included the Great Pyramids of Giza (the only remaining wonder of the ancient world), the Acropolis in Athens, the Eiffel Tower, Ankor in Cambodia and the Moai statues of Easter Island.

10. Local paper stated
Christ the Redeemer got a sudden surge of votes. I assume some sermons were given to help push it over the edge. Personally I think the older "wonders" deserved more recognition and those are the ones I voted for.
