Totally stupid "I love that guy' thread |
|
Forget substance for a moment. Forget gender, too, even though I used 'guy' in my thread title.
What elected Democrat has a voice that you enjoy listening to?
I love Charlie Rangel. Easily the most distinctive voice in the house or senate.
Other favorites or mine, simply for their voices, are Barney Frank, Debbie Wasserman-Shultz, Maxine Waters, Bill Delahunt, and John Conyers.
Again ..... this is not in the least about substance. Who do you enjoy listening to?

1. Charlie just used Tucker like a Swiffer! |
|
Edited on Mon Jul-09-07 05:14 PM by eleny
TC tried so hard to sell the "fight them there so we don't have to...." meme. Every which way he tried it, Charlie came back with his melodious sandpaper voice. I got a little worried that Charlie was going to have a stroke. He was getting pretty frustrated with Lil Tuck. But he came back every time and did us proud.
Edit: Add Leahy to the list of voices.

What war has Tucker fought to "fight them there"?
Yep, I just looked on his website, Korean War, purple heart, bronze star.
Why do these Chickenhawks think they can win against experience?

2. Teddy Kennedy, Waxman, Conyers, for very different reasons. |
|
Kennedy: love the Bahston accent Waxman: reminds me of my accountant's voice Conyers: very throaty and deep.

... especially Charlie Rangle having the most distinctive voice.
I LOVE to listen to Russ Feingold. It's not so much his actual voice, but the cadence of it - calm, measured, matter-of-fact, soothing.

4. Listening to Sen. Byrd makes me sad - sounds just like my late dad |
|
I can close my eyes when he speaks and swear its my dad talking. Even looks a bit like he did.

5. In addition to those mentioned, I like Byrd's southern-statesman voice... |
|
... It's like a southern version of a British statesman sound.

We lost so much when that great lady died. She almost made it to the Supreme Court, too -- only her health kept her from the nomination.

Ted Kennedy.
Now the worst- Ted Stevens. Duke Cunningham. Jeff Sessions.
I think you're on to something. The voice is an important factor in our decision as to whether or not we like someone. At least I think so.

14. Not for me it isn't. I *loathe* the sound of Frank's voice... |
|
... but the content of what he's saying is so awesome that I don't usually notice.

15. Did you ever see that series 'Dogfight' on History Channel? |
|
There was one episode feature Duke Cunningham and his wingman talking about their exploits in Viet Nam. Even in that (which was a completely apolitical show) he was annoying to hear.

I have to add that his last press conference was so whiny I actually felt sorry for him. That's the true power of a republican.

Oh. A South Park reference. Well, I'll have everyone here know that I do not watch South Park. I think it all comes back to voices again. I think the Bar Harbor accent is an acquired taste. Haha. :)
