Here's an easy solution. Right now the corresponding service has the unenviable task of reporting a soldiers death to their family. Maybe we ought to change this up a little. How about we make the representatives of each district, the Congresspersons and Senators go to the homes of family's of fallen soldiers and have them explain to each family how they are sorry their child is dead. Maybe they could say something like "We are sorry for your loss, but we just didn't have the votes to do anything about it". Maybe after looking into the eyes of a mother who just lost her child and will spend the next few years lying awake at night wondering what their child's last thoughts were, wondering how much pain they were in, wondering if they called out for their mother when they were dying, maybe after having to see that look a few times they will set aside their doubts and their pride, their political aspirations, and their pathetic fears of being called names by the most inept criminals in history and their enablers, maybe then, they will attempt to do what's right. Of course after seeing what Cindy Sheehan has gone through I guess even that might not be enough.

1. There ain't enough 'nads
on the whole of Capitol Hill to take on that job. I would give them one week's worth of those horrible "knock and talks", and they'd be back on the Hill passing that buck back to some poor gov't clerk faster than you can say "special session".
