1. It's been a pretty good year here. We get enough rain but, not tons. |
|
This has to be one of the most even years we have had in ages. sorry you are getting so much rain.

I don't think I've heard "dry as a popcorn fart" since my dad died years ago.
Oh, and we can use some rain in Georgia.

17. We sure can, and welcome to DU! |
|
Yeah, I'm here in Cobb County, and it's been so dry that one of my pea-brain right-wing neighbors accidentally set their lawn on fire with a Roman Candle on the 4th last week.
And welcome to DU!

farmers must be hurting already. So much for Gov. Strickland's plan to boost agribusiness w/ ethanol production.

13. Not when it's this much rain |
|
Edited on Mon Jul-09-07 07:13 PM by rainbow4321
The amount of rain that the Dallas area had in mid June destroyed **75%** of one county's crops. Gone. Zilch. And that was just from ONE of our storms (same one that flooded Haltom City and the Sherman, TX area). One local weather official put it best...at this point even if you hear that Texas will be getting 1-2 inches in an upcoming rain storm, it's too much. May not sound like alot but our ground/creeks/reservoirs have had 3 months of straight rain, many being torrential, "water rescue"-1,000 homes-destroyed rains. An article in this weekend's paper said that July is expected to be as wet as June was down here.

Lack of it is one of my only complaints about SoCal.

In San Diego, we are very dry, apparently the driest in 90 years. I am so worried about fires this summer.

6. Here in Northern Illinois |
|
it has been great until this evening. We got 3" in 20 minutes and I have branches down all over the yard. It's over now, but that was the best downpour that I've seen in some time.
Regards, Mugu

8. on the roof, we're in the process of putting on a metal roof, have it half finished |
|
it sure makes me feel good thinking I know I'll never have to deal with a roof leak again once finished. And yes I sure wish it would quit raining too.

11. We've had a severe drought here in Alabama, and now suddenly we have too much rain. |
|
Leaves were starting to fall of trees, the grass died, and half my vegetable garden was ruined. The past two weeks, it's suddenly too much rain. So much rain that my tomatoes are ruined, but the grass and trees now are beautiful and green again.

Don't have the fight left in me, but they were both hitting hard on Gore and the concert and how crazy he is, all hypocrites, etc. and how they don't believe in global warming.

20. Poor thing! I'd hate to have |
|
as miserable lives as those who don't understand the concept of Global Climate Change and the People getting together on a Global Scale to do something about it! It was so beautiful! :D
People like that need to consider the source of denial and follow the clues right to to the front door of the corporatewhores.

15. hot and dry, typical for summer in NorCal |
|
except we didn't get much rain last winter. I agree with the SoCal posters about fearing fires. It is bone dry out there.
I am trying to conserve water and electricity, but it is difficult. The tomatoes and vegies demand to be watered, and Hubby must have AC for his medical conditions. (The alternative is another ride for him in the "sparkly truck" to the ER...not a good idea, and 'way more expensive than the PG&E bill.)

The lake we live by (nearly on) is plumb full...it's killing all the visits...and the marinas, restaurants, etc. We haven't been able to put the boats in for over a month. :grr: http://www.swt-wc.usace.army.mil/FGIB.lakepage.html
