I attended the round-up in 2000 and again in 2003. There was a huge difference in the over all events.

One: In 2000 there were a lot more possibilities available. There were more vendors for one thing and the event in 2000 was just better IMO.

Two: In 2003 there were not as many vendors and most people I spoke with seemed discouraged by the lack of funds available after Slick Dick and Mad king Boy George took over our country.

But regardless of the hurdles they continue to be a driving force in our state. Putting on the event every year to try and make the environment an awareness movement.

They continue to demonstrate how to build straw bale structures. Then there is the University of Texas @ El Paso

There is also info on Solar ovens http://solarcooking.org/
Solar panels, wind generating, water purification,

Anyone familiar with author Bruce Sterling will be glad to know he is usually at these events.

There are also other interesting things to see and hear in the tents set up for talks and workshops.

I hope Texas isn't alone in this. If so then you guys need to get busy and perhaps contact the Texas Roundup and find out how to do an event in your community....

I'll start another thread about other ways to turn trash into homes, art, etc.

1. Texas?? LOL
You'll never be forgiven for W no matter what you do.

California has been doing a few things too. What makes you think Texas is the leader in the US?

2. Excuse meeeeee, but Mad king Boy George IS NOT A TEXAN AND NEVER WILL BE
Should I get snarky with you and blame you for Arnold????

And no where in my post did I claim Texas is the only leader in this. Reread it....

Sheesh, I was only trying to find out if other states were doing anything similar. But Noooooo, you had to respond with an attitude. Tells a lot about yourself, don't ya think????
