Health Care and The "A" Word |
|
America. What does that mean to the majority? Land of the free? I doubt that sentiment rings true with most of the people waking up to another somewhat dismal dawn. Is it all bad? No..We have had some amazing things happen in the last year that can warrant a celebration for the Liberal/Democratic party. I haven't posted much over the last year and if you are familiar with me its most likely because of my husband The Straight Story. I sit here another statistic. Another person without health care coverage and a disease that will take thousands a year to treat. Am I frightened? Of course I am. Does it make sense to me? Not exactly. My husband lost his job (He was working two jobs with JP Morgan being the primary) last week. The words that so many rally behind in terms of health care I hope gets the attention it deserves. There are so many that have nothing to fall back on and we all need a voice to speak about the consequences.
Right now 20% of all Americans have no health care coverage. Nothing. With the average doctors appointment ending up in hundreds of dollars per each visit without any surgical or long term care its a task that cant be taken lightly. I am now an even smaller number because I have a long term (lovingly called pre-existing by the health care minds that be) condition that most starving for money insurance companies do not want to take on. We paid almost $600.00 dollars a month for the coverage we had. For what? Please lobby the people around you. I don't want this to be about me. I am just sick of the lack of concern and the lack of empathy for people who really need the care. Have a great night and I hope to be posting more as my health permits. :)

4. and the punch line to a continuing experience like yours -- |
|
is trying to get some kind of medical care out of an emergency room.
my self and my parents have health care -- but occasionally we have had to suffer the abuse of going to an emergency room.
what a fuckin joke that was.
i felt so bad for every one there -- mostly for the patients -- and it was the perfect example of how sick our health care system is.

5. "lovingly called pre-existing " |

Isn't THAT the truth. There ought to be criminal penalties for even mentioning that phrase. Why on Earth do they get away with it? It's not as if you left your body at your previous job and were "negligent" enough to pick up a faulty one on your way in..
