Here's what I don't get DU. People accuse some of us for blindly siding with Democrats |
|
Edited on Tue Jul-10-07 12:56 PM by xultar
even with their failings.
Seems to me that others could also say that they the exact same thing in return about who they are supporting and be just as accurate.
Why is it o.k. for people to think it is negative to the Democratic party even through their failings even when the person they support has failings as well.
Can't we be grownup enough to see that no matter what you hurl it could just as easily be hurled right back at you? I think that is called respect people. Knowing that what you say is a fault in others could easily be found as a fault of your own.
Through all this mess. The freepers are crackin the fuck up. I know y'all don't care because purity lurks just around the corner. And at no matter what the cost people would rather destroy to prove their point. Which I find hilarious...cuz that is exactly what Bush is doing in Irak. Oh I forgot...no time to rip bush co cuz we have to shoot each other in the face first.
The real question is...Who will be left to fight the fight after we destroy one another? Keep in mind this is where this is going. Some will go here...others will go there...still more will say fuck it and tune out. In the end we'll fuckin lose and we'll have ourselves to blame.
No one is pure enough to have all the right answers. NO ONE. Just know that whomever or whatever you choose to support won't be perfect. So when you throw that stone...don't duck, scream and cry when it comes back your way. After all that's constructive debating right?
I'm goin to BlackUnderground cuz apparently...and someone just told me this...Democrats supported slavery. WHO DA FUCK KNEW THAT? BUHWAWAWAWA! That is all.

No one is perfect, nor should they be held to such a lofty standard. The only "perfect" I know is Chihuahua love! :)

5. What I want is a place where we support Democratic Candidates rather than |
|
political opponents. I don't think anyone suggests we never criticize, but we do it from within.

that is what has been controlling us from day one. We never learn. For some people there is no such thing as tolerance or compromise, it's their way or the highway. Politicians are by no means heroes, some are better than others, but not a one of them is perfect. For me, the Democratic party best represents my political views, and always has.
Do I agree with all Democrats all of the time? Of course not, but the majority of the time I do. And being from a red state, I understand that the alternative is much worse, so I will continue to work for and support liberal democrats, and sometimes I'll have to hold my nose and vote for people who aren't my ideal, but are better than the alternative. That's politics.

4. Sometimes I think it's "safe" to support someone who will never be elected? |
|
By doing so, some can perpetually claim the "high ground?" After all, there is no accountability for the politically unattainable. It's cowardly IMO.
Touching on your point above is all: No one is pure enough to have all the right answers. NO ONE. Just know that whomever or whatever you choose to support won't be perfect. So when you throw that stone...don't duck, scream and cry when it comes back your way.

14. A third party candidate who shall remain nameless recently pointed out |

that third parties tend to bring up important stuff -- like abolition, like women's suffrage, like support for family farms, gay rights, and environmentalism. He's right. Historically, that's how it came down.

Not laughing at the OP or what you are saying, but the replies. Lots of good thoughts, criticism is ok but bashing isn't. No one is perfect.
