Anybody else's gas prices just take a 30 cent jump?
Last night, the gas station I drove by was $2.99 - which seemed standard for my area.

Five minutes ago, I drove by a station in the same area - $3.29.

:wtf:

Was it the Coffeyville, KS refinery flood?

I'm in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

3. The dollar took a nearly .02 dump against the Euro today
Edited on Tue Jul-10-07 02:10 PM by Warpy
and, although it's rallied very slightly, it shows every sign of continuing to slide.

Expect to pay more for everything. Period.

(I know .02 doesn't seem like much, but it's the biggest one day drop I've seen)

14. Who says the companies are not manipulating the prices?
They have been explaining price hikes, for years, as being due to peak driving seasons.

Why, then, did pump prices DROP in the 4th week of June, just before the 4th of July, traditionally one of the three biggest driving days of the summer, and stay flat through the weeked following the 4th?

Maybe because the surge is working so we have to have good news through the holiday?

18. Well, I don't think it is but it every time there is a problem with a refinery
they jack up the prices so I wondered if that was the excuse.

How in the hell do they justify jacking prices in Iowa 500 miles north?

Edited on Tue Jul-10-07 03:16 PM by Pirate Smile
It isn't like they need a good reason to increase the prices. Any excuse will do.

$2.79 down from $2.99 and this was over the holiday. As of yesterday, it was still holding at that price. I haven't been out today though.

21. A few days ago I heard somebody
on CNN say it is because once again the oil companies have cut refinery output. I think the guy said the refineries were at 86% capacity when they should be over 90% capacity. He said the price would go up this week. Pure price manipulation...

The actual reason for the spike, however, that the mainstream media will not mention: The corpora-terrorists at Exxon Mobil are price-gouging six ways from Sunday.
