14. it's confusing situation
small amounts for personal use are legal - you can buy that at the coffeeshops. But the people who supply the coffeeshops are technically in violation of the law.

(Don't like the thread, don't read it, and then bump it)

BTW, if the OP was truly "offensive" to you, how do you function in the day to day world?

13. I thought it was an interesting question
There's plenty of room for multiple discussions.

If it offends you, don't participate. There's plenty of threads on here that irritate me and I've found the "hide thread" button works wonders. You should try it.

16. No one made you read it
And I am sure the tens of thousands of Americans whose lives have been destroyed by being prosecuted by a victimless crime don't think this is a needless topic for discussion.

Looks like someone could use a doobie!

why do you get so upset about it , I don't give a damn about a lot of subjects here and when I don't I bypass them. Evidently, you are concerned about who or what we are discussing here or you wouldn't have taken the time to respond. How about I am doing a little research and I just wanted to know.

11. Puishments for drug possession or sale....
In many Asian or ME nations is death. In Turkey, it can get you life imprisonment. It is illegal in over 90% of the world, and the penalties are generally harsher than in the US. People still abuse it there, just like here.

In a side note, don't buy drugs from a dealer in a foreign country where it is illegal. Especially Turkey or Indonesia. There is a bounty paid to informers for turning in drug users. Drug sellers who sell to tourists often turn around and turn them in to police for the reward (they know that a tourist is unlikely to be a regular customer, so they are not affecting their target market audience). The police often get a "kickback" on the reward from the seller/informer, and the arrest looks good on the cops resume'.

17. Also
don't take the pot/hash you bought in Amsterdam through Belgium...

As for the relevance of this thread, next to corporate control of every aspect of our society and government the phony "war on terror" and the illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq the phony "war on drugs" is the most devastating, wasteful stupidity practiced by the U.S.

End the phony "war on drugs", decriminalize and use 1/4 of the BILLIONS of dollars wasted in it for treatment on demand and you'd also end most of the "crime" and be able to close down half the goddamn prisons for a starter.

This is a VERY important question.

most of the world is ruled by amoral, trans-national, capitalist corporations...

That's where the real power lies.

Fascism is a Corporate State -- the trans-nationals have bypassed even the state -- they don't need Fascism anymore.

23. It's illegal just about everywhere.
Usually, usually, they're far less draconian about it though.

And I've read that the major reason it's illegal just about every where is because of American laws.
