Help DU this poll: Which country will the US invade in the future?
http://blog.wired.com/defense/2007/07/guess-which-cou.html

<snip>
Up for a little guessing game? Then take a swing at this...

The Army is working on a $200 billion modernization program called Future Combat Systems, or FCS. The plan is to remake the entire force, pretty much from top to bottom -- how units are organized, how they communicate, how they attack enemies, and how they defend themselves.

FCS is modeled, in part, on the invasion and occupation of one particular country. Which one is it? I'll give you eleven choices -- and until Wednesday afternoon to vote. Then I'll reveal the right answer.

<snip>

My money is on either Iran or Venezuela.

1. Not trying to be a party pooper but...
That's kind of morbid. I can't vote on that because it's too close to reality. And I think a poll like that just preps people to accept the fact that he will invade another country.

I was thinking that about the pundits discussing Iran too, that they keep talking about it like it could actually happen rather than talking about how insane it is to even consider it.

2. I've been betting on Lichtenstein for years.
Just because nobody would really expect that.

"We have just been attacked by Jamaica. However, they have a navy and no oil. So, we're attacking Lichtenstein. Freedom is on the march. Bring it on, Mon. The taller they come, the harder they fall. Just ask Lichtenstein... don't mess with Texas."

4. C'mon, Mars!
Seriously? Iran. They lack either reason (and I use the word extremely loosely) or the balls to go after any of the others.

6. "DU this poll"? That's a confusing term to use here
To "DU a poll" means to swamp it with DU votes for a certain outcome, for the purposes of furthering the political outlook that DU obviously favours. How do you think DU is helped by predicting which country is invaded? You can't even decide yourself. :shrug:
