Oh my fucking gawd, the motherfuckers!!!!
Edited on Tue Jul-10-07 07:15 PM by dancingAlone
I just saw an ad on NBC ABC Family - you know, the ones where you need to talk to your kids about smoking, drugs, drinking, abstinence...but it was talking to your kids about terrorist attacks!

I just caught the end. Looked up and saw little kids with big eyes - the narrator asking parents, "What will you do to protect your children....? How will you keep them safe?" They gave a .gov address to get suggestions for "making a plan".

Sorry, I couldn't rewind to get the URL - I was already on a 2 hour delay.

And there was the big Homeland Security Sig at the end.

This is soooo fucked up.

Edit: to change the station that aired it. It was ABC Family.

Talking about terror attacks with your kids-

More important to talk to your kids about who is behind
pushing terror and these "talk" promos.

The powers that be are completely out of control.
Can I get a witness?

23. From the kid's fun page -
'Terrorism is the use of threat or violence to scare governments into changing their policies. A terrorist can be an individual or a member of an organization. The attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on September 11, 2001, are examples of acts of terrorism.

The word "terrorism" first appeared in France (terrorisme) in 1795.

Talk to your parents or teachers if you have questions about this type of emergency.'

Unbelievable!

Early fifties. They were random surprise drills. If you didn't see the flash, you knew it was a practice drill. Mind-fucking millions of kids.

I also remember being a Guinea Pig in the Polio trials. We had the injectable version. I'm glad it worked.

But my parents weren't cowards then either, so I don't know how this might effect kids today when they go home to a pair of cowards for parents.

40. Check out Chertoff/Homeland Security FEARMONGERING ---

July 10th, 2007

Chertoff should be fired
By: John Amato @ 7:20 PM - PDT Remember when Chertoff blamed the media for his failing during Hurricane Katrina?

Download (360) | Play (278) Download (281) | Play (159) (small file)

What gives Chertoff the right to tell the country that he has a “gut” feeling that we’re going to be hit with a terrorist attack this summer?

“Summertime seems to be appealing to them,” he said of al-Qaeda. “We do worry that they are rebuilding their activities.”

Still, Chertoff said there are not enough indications of an imminent plot to raise the current threat levels nationwide. And he indicated that his remarks were based on “a gut feeling” formed by past seasonal patterns of terrorist attacks, recent al-Qaeda statements, and intelligence he did not disclose. There is an assessment “not of a specific threat, but of increased vulnerability,” he added.

there was at least a possibility of attack. We had ours pointed at them. They had theirs pointed at us.

This - is child abuse - not protection. Of course, I was pretty young during the drop and duck days - so maybe it was abuse then as well.

Edit: I was really young. It was "duck and cover" not "drop and duck".

How the hell duct tape and plastic sheeting are supposed to protect you from biohazards and chemical weapons is beyond me. You're going to have to leave that cocoon to breathe eventually.

Maybe a racal suit would be more practical, but I haven't seen those on E-Bay. Hmmm, maybe I shouldn't give the kind of jerks who profit off the terra, terra, terra meme any ideas.

Terrorism is not a fucking threat to me. If you look at the damage they have done to our country (not phsycological - just strictly material) it's miniscule. It's all in people's heads. If a fucking asshole decides to drive a car into airport to unsuccessfully blow it up once every three years, and burns himself in the process, why should that be the main reason for structuring our foreign policy? this is so stupid

We still have a TV, but it's hardly ever on. Kids can't get subjected to propaganda, whether it's from the government or just fast food or cola companies, if the TV is off.

I agree this is evil. But for once, you have the power to make it go away. Turn off the TV. Permanently.

46. actually I live in NYC
and I think there haven't been ENOUGH public service announcements about what to do in case of another attack.

If we get hit again, there will be the same mass panic as during 9/11. No one will know what to do, where to go, etc. I think most New Yorkers will be able to fend for themselves, but it'd be nice if we knew about some formal disaster plan in case of another blackout, explosion, Godzilla, etc.

People just aren't going to go look for this information on their own. I would agree that this info can be presented to the public without the "fear" card though...

i have been telling the kids this since about 4 yrs old due to preschool putting fear in my babies about being kidnapped, drugs, abuse, terrorism and all the many other things our pc buddies like to feed our very young in the attempt to keep our babies safe.

this is not new. it is not just terrorism. and i wish all our educated would understand how we do this so many ways with our young, at their expense to appease us adults in our own fear.

i have found no need to put the fear of god in my children to keep them safe. at age appropriate times they received the supervision from me to keep them safe.

my job

and having at their young age making it clear these were not their concerns, i have children 12 and 9 that can look at the horrors of this world and allow fear to sit in proper perspective..... ergo more balanced and honest about the reality of worold, without having hopelessness or unreasonable fear
