Giuliani Co-Chair Called Blacks "Retarded"
I found this interesting link and thought I would share:

Giuliani Co-Chair Called Blacks 'Retarded'
By Eric L. Hinton

Date Posted: July 09, 2007

If you're going to be judged by the company you keep, then Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani should inspect his inner circle a little more closely.

Giuliani, who is the only major presidential candidate whose campaign is being run entirely by whites as revealed in "Which Presidential Campaign Is Worst for Diversity?" in DiversityInc's June 2007 issue, is being slammed by the Democratic National Committee for his selection of Arthur Ravenel Jr., a former U.S. congressman who is the new co-chair of his campaign in South Carolina. According to the DNC, Ravenel has a long history of making insensitive, racist comments toward blacks, comments that Ravenel has dismissed as mere "slips."

Among Ravenel's various "slips" are:

-Referring to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) as the "National Association for Retarded People" at a flag rally in 2000
-As a member of Congress, he said a white committee chairman was "operating on black time"
-Speaking in 1993 to the Council of Conservative Citizens (CofCC), the country's largest white nationalist organization—which, according to The Post and Courier, opposes "all efforts to mix the races of mankind, to promote non-white races over the European-American people through so-called affirmative action"

6. Kerick...the Revenel family ... nd then Vitter ... is Joseph Stalin next?

The CCC, whatever name it uses now, is anathema to a civilized society. It's the front for
the ugly side of racism.

Rudy is a real strange dude for maintaining this relationship.

CNN 6/26/07

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani reaffirmed his ties with a prominent South Carolina family Monday, a week after the son was indicted on federal cocaine charges.

Giuliani’s presidential campaign released a list of regional chairs in South Carolina, which included Arthur Ravenel Jr., who will serve as the Lowcountry chairman.

Ravenel is the father of former South Carolina Treasurer Thomas Ravenel, who until last week was the state chairman of Giuliani’s presidential campaign. Thomas Ravenel stepped down from his post on the Giuliani campaign after the indictment was announced. Gov. Mark Sanford suspended Ravenel from his position in the state government and named an interim treasurer.

Arthur Ravenel, a former U.S. Congressman and state senator, has his own controversial history. A supporter of flying the Confederate flag on the statehouse grounds, Ravenel referred to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) as the “National Association for Retarded People” at a flag rally in 2000, according to the Charleston Post and Courier.

Newsday 7/10/07 (Long Island NY)

July 11, 2007
Manchester, N.H. -- Another key supporter of Republican presidential contender Rudy Giuliani suffered an embarrassment when he admitted the "serious sin" of at one time calling an escort service accused of being a prostitution ring.

Sen. David Vitter (R-La.), who is Giuliani's most prominent Southern conservative supporter, was implicated when the so-called "D.C. Madam" disclosed that his phone number was found among the telephone records of the escort service, Pamela Martin and Associates, in a period before he was elected to the Senate in 2004.

"This was a very serious sin in my past for which I am, of course, completely responsible," Vitter said in a statement Monday night. "Several years ago, I asked for and received forgiveness from God and my wife in confession ..and marriage counseling."

Snip

That two of Giuliani's key Southern supporters have become ensnared in prostitution and drug cases could revive concerns about some of his past New York associates, notably Bernard Kerik. He has pleaded guilty to two state corruption charges for accepting free renovation of his apartment.

8. Thomas Ravenel was the SC State Treasurer
http://www.wltx.com/news/story.aspx?storyid=50785

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP, WLTX) -- South Carolina Treasurer Thomas Ravenel has been suspended from office, following his indictment by a federal grand jury for distribution of cocaine.

"Given the grave nature of these charges and what is alleged in this indictment, we're left with no choice but to suspend Treasurer Ravenel immediately," Governor Mark Sanford said in a written release. "These are obviously very serious allegations that we're constitutionally bound to act upon, and they'll ultimately be decided by the courts."
