Did Liddy Dole break ranks on Iraq????
http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_IRAQ?SITE=CATOR&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2007-07-11-06-20-17

<snip>
At least 10 Republicans in recent weeks have said the U.S. should start reducing the military's role in Iraq, with the latest challenge to the president's Iraq strategy coming Tuesday from Sen. Elizabeth Dole.

"Simply put, our troops have been doing a great job, but the Iraqi government has not," Dole, R-N.C., said. "Our commitment in Iraq is not indefinite, nor should the Iraqi government perceive it to be. It is my firm hope and belief that we can start bringing our troops home in 2008."

<snip>

A small brak... adminttedly, but it would be the the first Southern Republican to do.

1. These are such weasel words
These "moderate" Republicans are going to capitulate and cooperate with the White House when it comes time to actually cast a vite, and that's what counts in the end.

What Lugar, et. al are basically saying is that the war isn't going so well and we should kinda, sorta think about maybe dialing it back a little bit at some point in the undetermined future.

Whop dee do.

2. Wonder what she and Dole say about the chimp behind closed doors.
I'm sure the old-timers like them are bitterly disappointed. Now, if they would just get out there and fight for the right thing.....
It would be great if Liddy Dole was starting to do this.

4. I wonder too. Never cared for Bob Dole, but he never seemed like a neocon
And I was never terrified of him like I am of the current regime.

3. NOTHING cuts except their actual VOTE--and McConnell and MCCain yesterday

OBjected to an up or down vote on the Webb amendment. saying past votes have used up time and Dems lost anyway.

5. She's beginning to crack, but she is not the first North Carolina
Republican to do so. Congressman Walter B. Jones some time ago said that there was "no justification for the war" and called on Bush to apologize. He and one other Republican (from Maryland I believe) supported the Democratic efforts in the House to withhold funding. Jones' father also served in the House - but as a Democrat.

9. 'It's not our fault; it's the Iraqi's. Nice glossover.
It's not our fault that we invaded and occupied a country that was no threat to us.

And having done that, it's not our fault that we didn't send enough troops to do the job.

And it's not our fault that we had no plan for the occupation.

And it's not our fault that the Iraqi army and police forces were disbanded.

And finally, it's not our fault that the Iraqis can't cope with the situation we've put them in. One that we don't know how to cope with either.

There.
Doesn't everybody feel better now?
IT'S NOT OUR FAULT!

(Repeat above until it becomes believable. This may take a while.)
