Did any DUers catch the former Surgeon General
Richard Carmona on Anderson Cooper last night. Bush has done to thesurgeon general's office exactly what has happened in DOJ, Education, etc.
Wish I had watched the SGs live.

<snip>
Dr. Richard Carmona, a former U.S. surgeon general, told a congressional panel that top Bush administration officials repeatedly tried to weaken or suppress important public health reports because of political considerations.

The administration, Carmona said Tuesday, would not allow him to speak or issue reports on the subjects of stem cells, emergency contraception, sex education or prison, mental or global health issues. Top officials tried to "water down" a landmark report on secondhand smoke and delayed it for years, he said. Released last year, the report concluded that even brief exposure to cigarette smoke can cause immediate harm.

Carmona said he was ordered to mention President George W. Bush three times on every page of his speeches. He also said he was asked to make speeches to support Republican political candidates and to attend political briefings.

Administration officials even discouraged him from attending the Special Olympics because, he said, of that charitable organization's longtime ties to a "prominent family" that he declined to name. "I was specifically told by a senior person, 'Why would you want to help those people?' " Carmona said.

1. Also said the B*ush Administration was THE WORST of any....
in this regard. This judgment was given by his predecessors who observed Dr. Carmona's tenure.

Please, please, please....someone do a summary of how this criminal bunch have corrupted our system. A "Bush Admin for Dummies" for the soundbite populace. Maybe if people can wake up to the reality, they won't need soundbites so much any more. But, they need to wake up first.

For example, he said he wasn't allowed to make a speech at the Special Olympics because it was viewed as benefiting a political opponent. However, he said was asked to speak at events designed to benefit Republican lawmakers.

6. I just saw a clip of Carmona on CNN.
Then Bushler came on to cut a ribbon to commemorate the completion of the new WH Press Corp room.

What a fucking idiot. :eyes: I wish I could take back the time I lost watching that.

11. not only is the Surgeon General affected, even the Hurricane
Center or NOAA, this disgusting regime is cutting funds thus preventing the meteorologists from reporting hurricanes. This must end, they are a cancer in this country and we have to surgically remove them. It is a total takeover of the government don't these Senators get it yet?

12. Yet he didn't/couldn't say anything while he was drawing his paycheck
Sad to watch former cult members paraded around like that, now that the scales have fallen from their eyes. And I'm absolutely sure (sarcasm mode on) that Cooper used the occasion to draw parallels from Dr. Carmona's experience to the extreme politicization of so many other areas in the government, right? (sarcasm mode off)

I am sick to death of every one of these revelations being brought out of a hermetically-sealed jar, examined with wonder and then put back as if it's something they've never seen or considered before: Politics overruling the public good in the Bush administration! Why, I never. And then next week, it's the same reaction to the U.S. Attorney scandal or something else. Thanks a heap, media bulldogs. Go back to sleep now.
